After Henry Cavill was replaced as Superman in the DC Universe, Gal Gadot, the star of Wonder Woman, shared her thoughts. Cavill’s time as Superman ended in 2022, as DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran decided to go in a new direction for the reboot. Despite this, Gal Gadot’s involvement in Wonder Woman 3 remains confirmed, adding some confusion to the upcoming DCU reboot as the movie might tie into the main DC timeline.

Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot shared her thoughts on DC Studios replacing Henry Cavill as Superman. While Gadot didn’t know who took over the role of Superman from Cavill, she knew that the behind-the-scenes screen tests were going for Clark Kent and Lois Lane. She also wished the actors and shared her support for the new actors who’ll be leading the franchise, considering that the movie will be “such an exciting beginning to any actor:”

“I saw that they were testing, doing different screen tests, but I don’t know who got it, but it seemed like everyone was super legit and talented and, like, great. So I’m happy for them. It’s such a huge take-on and it’s such an exciting beginning to any actor, and I wish whoever it’s going to be the best of luck and enjoy the ride.”

Surprisingly, Gal Gadot didn’t know who was replacing Henry Cavill as Superman. Even DC Comics fans knew James Gunn and Peter Safran were making a new DC Universe that starts with Superman: Legacy in 2025. But Gal Gadot, who’s been Wonder Woman since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), didn’t realize David Corenswet was the new Superman.

Besides David Corenswet being chosen as the new Superman, played by Henry Cavill since Man of Steel in 2013, other important roles in Superman: Legacy have also been cast. Rachel Brosnahan from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will play Lois Lane. Nathan Fillion will be Earth’s Green Lantern, Guy Gardner and Isabela Merced will play Hawkgirl.

The reports say Gadot wasn’t done playing Wonder Woman, and it’s still uncertain whether she’ll be the main Diana Prince in the new DCU. With both Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck seemingly out of their way this year from DC, many fans doubted the same on her status in the future as Wonder Woman. This also follows the announcement of Gunn and Safran’s plans for a Wonder Woman TV show, Paradise Lost, which will explore Themyscira’s origins of Game of Thrones-style epic adventure.

At this point, not so much is known about the series, but the show will dive into Themysciran history, unveiling the hidden island’s secrets, but the featured characters are yet to be decided for the story. Although the new information about Wonder Woman 3 complicates the confirmed plan, only time will reveal if Gadot will return as anticipated.
