Under his new regime, many existing projects and characters have been scrapped, making way for fresh movies, actors, and even a new DC Universe (DCU).
This move has sparked outrage among Snyder loyalists, who continue to campaign for DC to return to the Snyderverse. The DCU will launch with the movie Blue Beetle, and James Gunn’s first directorial venture in the Universe will be Superman: Legacy. James Gunn Was Unimpressed With Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman
Reports from various sources have confirmed that James Gunn scrapped the third Wonder Woman movie, which was set to be produced this year. Apparently, the studio decided to part ways with Patty Jenkins, who had experienced both success and failure with the two previous Wonder Woman films. However, Gal Gadot has unofficially confirmed that she will return as the Amazon princess in James Gunn’s Universe.
The Super director couldn’t accept the storyline pitched by Patty Jenkins for the threequel. With the ongoing changes in the DCU, the narrative would not align with James Gunn’s vision for where the cinematic universe is headed.

What’s Happening At James Gunn’s DC Studios Now?
With The Flash crashing at the box office, the DC Extended Universe has officially come to an end. The studio places high hopes in James Gunn, given his successful outing with The Suicide Squad 2021. However, recent news for the studios isn’t encouraging either. The first DCU movie to hit theaters, Blue Beetle, is projected to earn a meager $12-$17 Million in its first week. This can be attributed to the poor marketing for the film and the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes.
In yet another decision, the Brightburn producer has reportedly put a halt to some movie developments, including the movie adaptation of a fan-favorite comic, Kingdom Come. These movies met the same fate as Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, not aligning with Gunn’s vision for the overall cinematic universe.
