Marvel’s very own Thanos, Brolin also played cable in Deadpool 2 and is amongst a range of MCU stars who have been in some way associated with the series. While the franchise is an original creation by Rian Johnson, the 50-year-old director seemingly has a soft spot for Marvel stars.
Including Brolin, a total of 7 stars who have appeared in some way in the MCU have now featured in the Knives Out series.

The series itself revolves around Benoit Blanc, an investigative journalist played by Daniel Craig. It has resulted in two superhits thus far, and part of the credit goes to the various MCU stars who have previously been a part of the series.
The original Knives Out, which released back in 2019, starred the MCU’s original Captain America, Chris Evans, as Hugh Ransom Drysdale. The movie ended up making $312 million at the box office, which prompted a sequel in 2022, in the form of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. This one threw at viewers a range of other current and former MCU stars.
We saw Edward Norton, the original Hulk, Jessica Henwick, who has appeared in multiple MCU series such as Iron Fist and The Defenders, and Dave Bautista, who played the role of the intellectually challenged Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Now, recent reports have revealed that both Josh Brolin and Jeremy Renner, who is Hawkeye in the Avengers series, are also part of the latest film, which does not have a release date thus far, but is expected to come out sometime in 2025.
That makes it a total of 7 MCU stars who have in some way been a part of the Knives Out series, which is bound to be a positive update for fans, as far as the third iteration is concerned.

While there has undoubtedly been a stagnancy with respect to the overall MCU in recent years, things may be about to change. As fans wait for the third Knives Out to arrive, they have plenty of MCU offerings to be excited about, for the time being.
Things will kick off with the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, which is expected to kickstart a fresh phase influenced by mutants and X-Men, which particularly makes sense due to the success of the recently released X-Men ‘97. Furthermore, the MCU also has the Fantastic Four project to look forward to, which will introduce a range of familiar yet fresh characters, led by Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards.
That movie is also expected to introduce the MCU’s big villain for the next phase, in the form of Galactus. The nature of the characters that are set to enter the fray brings hope for a range of other familiar faces from the comics to be introduced as well, which means that the MCU may finally be ready to move past its former successes, and create new ones.
The first two Knives Out movies are available to be watched on Amazon Prime.
