According to an industry insider, Disney is eyeing none other than Ayo Edebiri to play a part in the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Apparently, the role she could be playing in the film is that of an Irish pirate, Anne Bonny. If the rumors are true, it looks like the film could be heading towards a race-swap controversy.

Insider Daniel Richtman has a track record for being spot-on with his reports and his recent update about a mysterious Pirates of the Caribbean movie caught our attention. According to Richtman a.k.a. DanielRPK, the female-led film is back on track after Margot Robbie shut it down in 2022.

Reportedly, The Bear star Ayo Edebiri is being eyed to play the role of a character called ‘Anne.’ Since the franchise is all about pirates, we cannot help but wonder if the ‘Anne’ here is being referenced to female pirate, Anne Bonny.

Bonny was an Irish pirate and if Edebiri is truly playing her in the alleged film, it would become a classic case of a race-swap, something which has not been appreciated by fans before. However, while Richtman talked about Edebiri’s involvement in Pirates of the Caribbean, he did not say anything about the Golden Globe-winning actress portraying Bonny. For all we know, it could just be a random Anne!
