This isn’t the first time that Crunchyroll has crashed prior to an anime episode’s release. In fact, Attack on Titan fans were responsible for server outages in both Crunchyroll and Funimation when The Final Season Part 2 was released in 2022 along with a Demon Slayer episode. Given that the adaptation is about to end, another crash was bound to happen on November 4, 2023.

Attack on Titan Breaks Crunchyroll Before The Latest Season’s The Final Chapters Special 2

Before Attack on Titan, the hype around Monkey D. Luffy’s ‘Gear 5’ mode caused the Crunchyroll to crash. The website showed an error when fans tried to log in and watch Episode 1071. Although such crashes are common when it comes to Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus, the site crashed for a second consecutive time ahead of the release of Episode 1072, an unprecedented moment.

In the most recent case, Attack on Titan caused server lags and crashes. The message “Oops, something went wrong,” was seen on the screen, which frustrated the fans who had been waiting for months for the episode’s premiere. The Final Chapters Special 2 will give the much-awaited answer to whether Eren Yeager succeeds in bringing the Rumbling.

Crunchyroll mentioned on the messaging platform X that the site was experiencing intermittent issues. Even though Attack on Titan wasn’t mentioned, fans immediately attributed the crash to the anime’s release and flooded social media with AoT memes.

Luckily, the error was fixed within 50 minutes. Crunchyroll shared an update on X that stated that the service issues were resolved and fans could hop in to watch the Attack on Titan action. The Final Chapters Special 2 is currently available on the streaming platform for premium subscribers.

The Lead-Up To the Attack on Titan Series Finale

Much time has passed since Eren Yeager took the mission to destroy all Titans. The anti-hero was turned into an Attack Titan due to a serum injected by his father before he was consumed by Yeager. Having gained tremendous powers, he chose to shepherd Colossal Titans in order to initiate the Rumbling.

Rumbling is an event that is marked by human genocide. Eren Yeager believes it to be the final solution to the war between Eldians and Marleyans and the only way he could keep his friends out of danger. At the end of Final Chapters Part 1, Eren transformed into Doomsday Titan before squaring off with Reiner Braun’s warrior units.
