The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most iconic fantasy series of all time. Being the adaptation of the beloved J. R. R. On top of the excellent cast, the films have been regarded as masterpieces, featuring excellent cinematography and magnificent world-building.

Considering just how significant they were to the cinema, it is not surprising that they are still very much in demand, more than two decades after their release. Their fandom, although older, is just as active, and they are adding new members day by day.

With this in mind, many fans would be excited to know that the three films are making their way back into theaters this year.

The Lord of the Rings Comeback

Re-releases are quite a common phenomenon in Hollywood. Studios will put movies in theaters again, even though they were first released decades ago. There are many reasons for this; sometimes they will do it on anniversaries, and other times, it is done as an attempt at reigniting the hype of a specific film or franchise.

They also have different mentions to ensure that fans come back for another sitting. The most common technique is to add unseen footage to make audiences more excited and inclined to buy tickets.

Many projects have taken such a route, with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 coming back to theaters and swinging better than its first go, and Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace also doing the same earlier this year. The most recent series to join this club seems to be The Lord of the Rings. It was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that the entire Elijah Wood trilogy will be making its way back into theaters.
