Timothée Chalamet is currently in every huge franchise except the superhero empire, and many fans wonder if he’d ever consider jumping aboard the Marvel ship. The 28-year-old actor rose to fame for his roles in Call Me By Your Name, Little Women, and Dune.
Chalamet is quite young and has so many opportunities in Hollywood, but he was once advised against joining comic book films as much as possible. The irony is that it was a superhero movie that inspired him to become an actor!
Timothée Chalamet Became An Actor Because Of The Dark Knight
During his interview with the New York Times, Timothée Chalamet revealed Leonardo DiCaprio warned him to stay away from doing superhero movies.
“Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs,’ which I thought was very good. I follow them both! But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”
This is great news for fans who wish to see the actor explore his abilities in portraying comic book characters. He has already proven his talent in playing fictional figures from books, so why would he not be any good with superhero ones?
In his speech at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, he shared the fantastic backstory of how he knew he wanted to be an actor (via IndieWire):
“When I was 12 years old, after attending one of my sister Pauline’s [ballet] performances, I petitioned my Mom and grandma to see Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ with me. We went to AMC Empire 25 in Times Square for a 7:30 screening. I left that theatre a changed man, and I’m serious about that. Heath Ledger’s performance in that film was visceral and viral to me, and I now had the acting bug.”
Something as innate as that would be impossible to remove, especially for Chalamet who found his muse in a superhero film. Who knows? His career might thrive even better after he joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Fan Art Exhibits Timothée Chalamet As Kid Loki
In line with Timothée Chalamet and the possibility of the actor taking his shot at joining the MCU, an incredible Marvel fan art showcased the French-American star as Kid Loki. The original antihero was played by Tom Hiddleston in the Avengers films and the Disney+ show Loki.
Indeed, by looks alone, Chalamet could pass as a younger version of the famed trickster god. He’s also got the acting chops to play a complex character with such conviction. Kid Loki is known as tough, clever, and curious – something that Chalamet could impeccably deliver on the screen.
Fans can definitely hold on to the hope that the Lady Bird actor would keep his mind open about superhero movies. Besides, he gravitated towards it from the beginning, so it’s not impossible to happen again.
Meanwhile, Loki is available to stream via Disney+.
