It won’t be long till Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War potentially releases in October later this year, but with so many eyes looking towards the future of the Call of Duty franchise, it makes sense for players to be looking back at older gamers to get an idea of what could be included in this new installment.

One player has taken a look as far back as Call of Duty: Ghosts, as they admire the “best perk system” that Call of Duty has arguably used throughout its many different games, and gamers seem to be agreeing with this opinion.

During game development, there are many different features that developers need to choose between in order to make their game as good as it can be, and one of these features for CoD developers is how the perk system works within each game.

For many different versions of the Call of Duty franchise, the perk system has been rather simple and allows players to choose 4 different perks that they can use within their loadouts, and each perk can be selected from a variety of options within each category.

However, one game in the series decided to move away from this system and go towards a point-based system instead, and thanks to one Reddit user by the name of SneakyBastardx, we can take a trip down memory lane. This new system assigned a point to each different perk, allowing gamers to choose from a large variety of perks, but the limit was that they would only be able to use 8 points worth of perks.

This meant that players had to be picky on what they chose, but it also meant players were able to have a bit of freedom as they were able to potentially pick 8 different perks each worth 1 point, or even 4 perks worth 2 points, and so on.

Gamers Are Hoping a Similar System Could Make Its Return Soon

Ghosts was rather liked in the franchise, and it did do some rather innovative things that are still being used to this day, but sadly, this rather inventive and interesting perk system has been left to rot, and gamers are hoping it will make some kind of return in this new set of games.

For some players, it isn’t just the perk system that was perfect, as one Reddit user responded by stating, “Cod ghost perks system, advanced warfare kill streak system, golden era maps and game modes. Perfection” which proves that there are those who are begging for these systems to return.

Another player came to CoD: Ghosts rescue by stating that “Ghosts was such a good cod, just ruined by campers” as it was a rather common problem in this installment of CoD which wasn’t helped by the crazy perk combinations players could use to make this easier.
