Much like their spiritual successor Elden Ring, the Dark Souls games are known for their difficulty and required player skill. And you’ll need those keen reflexes if you want to get in on the current Steam franchise sale.

All 3 games and their respective DLC are on sale until 5 pm UTC on the 11th of September, with a discount of 50% across the board. This gives any Elden Ring fans looking for a change of scenery something to pass the time before the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is released.

The Dark Souls series is widely regarded as an excellent franchise, with Steam reviews for all three games sitting at “Very Positive.” Don’t be like Steam user, Arne’s Ashes, who commenting on Dark Souls III said:

“hardest thing so far was holding back the tears after realizing you bought the game one day before a 75% sale”

The full franchise of games and their DLC is available at half its usual price, allowing prospective buyers the option to pick and choose from the classic experience of Dark Souls II, the newer and arguably easier Dark Souls III, or the remastered edition of the original Dark Souls.

Since publisher, Bandai Namco, has yet to publicly announce a release date for the much anticipated Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, seasoned Souls-Like players might be looking for some way to scratch that masochistic itch.

And while it’s likely a large percentage of Elden Ring’s fanbase already have some if not all of the OG trilogy, many will be taking advantage of this sweeping discount. As for those inexperienced in the unforgiving RPG genre, what better place to dive in at the deep end than with a marathon of all three Dark Souls games.

If I had to choose I would jump into the series where I first heard of it, with Dark Souls II. At £14.99/$19.99 you can pick up the Scholar of the First Sin upgraded version, which packs in all the DLC for the game, as well as other enhancements to the vanilla aspects of the title.

That said, the Dark Souls remaster comes complete with the DLC included, leaving Dark Souls III the exception, where you’ll also have to grab the Deluxe Edition or the Season Pass for the completed set.

Time is of the essence though, as the Steam sale is only a limited-time “Weekend Deal” running until 11th September 2023 at 10 am PST / 12 pm CST/1 pm EST / 5 pm UTC / 6 pm BST.  This has given us less than a day to grab up these special offers before they are gone. You can find the Steam sale page here.
