There is no denying that Alan Wake 2 was one of last year’s biggest games and surprises, along the same lines as how successful Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was for animation, and one talented VFX artist went the extra mile by integrating a specific animation used in the film to recreate the game’s song number with LEGO. It requires great skill and knowledge to even utilize the technology, but with great passion come great outcomes.

It is a miracle to see what a person can do with unlimited time and limited resources. Being able to recreate something that is on par with the same quality as the original will draw the attention of crowds.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, there is a small and short sequence that takes the film into a world where everything is made out of LEGO, and it was a young, talented man named Preston Mutanga who did it all on his own. If he can do it, certainly others can too, and someone did with Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake 2 Song Number Gets the LEGO Treatment

Herald of Darkness was an iconic moment within Alan Wake 2, and has been highly regarded as one of the best gaming moments of 2023.

Last year was an amazing year for both animated films and video games. The animators behind Across the Spider-Verse have reached amazing milestones in the artform while integrating other animations and creating a perfect blend. Alan Wake 2 did the same but inverted it. While the photorealistic graphics benefitted the game and added more immersion, it featured a sequence where the actors themselves filmed in live-action.

The song itself was already impressive, but Elizabeth – IX recreated it in LEGO, which rivals the quality and graphic fidelity that the young self-taught animator did in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The talent that these young artists possess is unparalleled and will pave the way for their future careers in the industry.

Companies should always be on the lookout for fresh talent and young blood, as they could be strong assets in the industry moving forward. Skills like these are hard to come by nowadays, and the animator’s posts are a resume for them to notice.

Everybody loves LEGO to an extent, not because of its looks and definitely not because of its sharp, rough, and painful physical properties; people love it because it reminds them of colorful and fun youth.

Perhaps this animated passion project could encourage Remedy Entertainment to take its games on a different path in terms of graphic fidelity now that it has regained Control, figuratively and literally.

Talent should not be overlooked or wasted. Maybe these young animators have all the time in the world but not the best resources, and if this is what they could do with a humble and modest setup, imagine the marvels they could do if they were supplied with state-of-the art technology and an abundance of resources.

What other franchises would you like to see go down the LEGO brick road? Fortnite did it, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse did too, and a fan made it for Alan Wake 2. Let us know in the comments below!
