Alan Wake 2 has been a tremendous success since it was released last month after a wait of over a decade. The game has impressed players with its storyline, impressive gameplay, stunning visuals, and so much more. One of those things is the in-game music, and a fan-favorite track from the game, Herald of Darkness, which has gone viral on the internet, has now received an official music video, and it is amazing.
Alan Wake 2 Song Herald of Darkness Gets Official Music Video
Players have waited a long time for Alan Wake 2, and when it was released, the game exceeded all expectations and received rave reviews from fans and critics. The game came packed with “bop” soundtracks, and one of the best of them, Herald of Darkness by Old Gods of Asgard, became a fan favorite. The song became so popular that even non-Alan Wake 2 players became aware of it.
Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy Entertainment and the in-game band Old Gods of Asgard, aka real-life Finnish rock band Poets of the Fall, have finally released an official music video for the song. The song has vocals from actors David Harewood and Matthew Porretta, as well as creative director Sam Lake.
The music video features the music sequence from the game’s Initiation 4: We Sing chapter and brings it all into a live-action music video. The music video features Alan Wake, Mr. Door, Ilkka Villi, and in-game Sam Lake, among others, as dancers.
For those unaware, the We Sing chapter takes Alan Wake to a point where he must make his way through multiple musical segments that take place during a late-night talk show called In Between with Mr. Door. When players move through the level, the song Herald of Darkness plays and various live-action videos play on the screens. The whole segment has been praised by players for its live-action dance, music, and combat.
The song made the already amazing sequence incredible, and players loved Herald of Darkness and soon shared the gameplay and the song online, and it got very popular. The music video is beautiful and lets players experience the level once again since players can’t play it as there is no way to replay any levels in Alan Wake 2 as of now. Players need to start the game again to play the levels.
Herald of Darkness gets the music video after it landed on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms following its popularity online. The band will also release “Rebirth – Greatest Hits” under the fictional name Old Gods of Asgard, featuring other songs from Alan Wake 2, the original title Alan Wake, as well as some soundtracks from Remedy‘s shooter title Control.
Alan Wake 2 garnered a lot of praise and was released to critical acclaim with our own ten-out-of-ten review that reads:
Alan Wake 2 stands out as a well-crafted psychological horror game that is guaranteed to satisfy fans of the genre. The game showcases graphics, environments, charming awesome storytelling, and skillfully executed action sequences.
Nevertheless, a few players might feel that the pacing occasionally lags and the combat becomes monotonous. All things considered, Alan Wake 2 is a must-play, for horror game enthusiasts.
Alan Wake 2 recently won the Critics’ Choice Award at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023. The game has also been nominated for eight awards at The Game Awards 2023, including Game of the Year, Best Direction, and obviously Best Score and Music.
Although Alan Wake 2 is facing fierce competition from other big games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 for GOTY, it is still one of the favorites to take the big prize home.
