Alden Ehrenreich proved his worthy talent in the entertainment industry with his incredible acting chops almost two decades ago for the first time, and fans have been in love with his on-screen performances ever since. Having debuted with the superhit TV show Supernatural, he has since starred in multiple big projects like Solo: A Star Wars Story and Oppenheimer, with many more lined up soon to come–like Marvel’s Ironheart.

However, despite having such a successful career with even an entry pass into one of the biggest and most famous franchises of all time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ehrenreich isn’t looking forward to a long MCU arc after Ironheart as he plans to stay away from the “cool kids’ table”.

While Alden Ehrenreich is looking forward to the release of the miniseries that will mark his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he also does not want to stay in the franchise for a long arc after Ironheart.

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the Fair Play star revealed how he plans to stay away from the “cool kids’ table” in Hollywood because of reasons more than one.

“Hollywood is high school, it really is the same thing,” he said. “It’s the same sort of mentality and you’re trying to get at the cool kids’ table and whatever year, some people at the cool kids’ table are the people who made the most amount of money. For me, it’s not that way.”

For Ehrenreich, it’s different because he is more inclined to be as much of a director as he is an actor. And if he continued to reprise his character in a master franchise like that, it would more or less hinder his growth as a filmmaker.

Continuing, he further explained his reasoning behind the same:

“I just saw Merrily We Roll Along, and there’s this line: ‘I’ve only made one mistake my whole life, but I’ve made it over and over and over again—and that’s saying yes when I should have said no.’” Ehrenreich shared. “I felt a fear of not adequately protecting this very ill-shaping embryonic thing.”

As much as fans would want to see Alden Ehrenreich play the character of their choice in Ironheart, the Han Solo portrayer’s choice is justified as well, and is worthy of being respected.

Alden Ehrenreich Wants To Stick To Directing As Much As Acting

During the same interview, Alden Ehrenreich elaborated on what he plans to do if not completely stick to acting in a renowned franchise like the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Instead of devoting himself full-time to acting, he hopes to get into a place where he is directing masterpieces as much as he is acting in them, ‘every two or three years’, keeping a balance between both.

With that dream came a list of names he would like to work with. This included Christopher Nolan and Chloe Domont, or the likes of them, working with whom “is getting the greatest film school on the face of the planet” according to Ehrenreich.

Nonetheless, his love for acting remains, and fans will still see him both on the big screens, showing off his exceptional acting chops, as well as behind the camera lenses, displaying his commendable talent as a director, every once in a while.
