Baldwin is set to stand trial in July this year, and if convicted, faces a possible prison time of 18 months. While his lawyers are trying to dismiss the charge against him, a new report claims that Baldwin was offered a unique deal last October that would not have ended his troubled time with the case. However, the deal was dismissed abruptly by prosecutors days later.

The case of the accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021 is still going on and actor Alec Baldwin has been put through the wringer for the past 2-3 years. While he faces prison time due to his recent indictment in January, new surprising details have surfaced about the case, involving a deal that the prosecutors offered the actor last year.

A recent report from Variety revealed that the information about the deal was included in the hundred-page material that was released on Friday. It stated that special prosecutor Kari Morrissey offered Baldwin “a plea deal identical to the petty misdemeanor” that would lead him to serve no jail time. The deal was offered to the actor on October 5 last year.

He was given a deadline toll October 27 to decide whether to accept the deal or not. However, the filing states that by October 17, the prosecutors abruptly called off the deal and went ahead with their efforts to indict him, which happened in January this year. The report contained no explanation for the prosecutor’s sudden change of heart.

Baldwin’s attorneys, on the other hand, have been trying hard to dismiss the recent involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin. They have described his recent indictment as “an abuse of the system, and an abuse of an innocent person whose rights have been trampled to the extreme.” (via BBC). It remains to be seen what happens in July when Baldwin stands trial and whether he will get convicted.

Alec Baldwin Almost Returned as Alan Hunley in Mission Impossible 7

Alec Baldwin starred alongside Tom Cruise as Alan Hunley in two Mission Impossible films namely Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible – Fallout. The character surprisingly did not return in 2023’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. However, director Christopher McQuarrie revealed that he was included in the initial stages of the film’s script.

McQuarrie told the Empire Spoiler Specials podcast that the film originally included a flashback sequence involving Baldwin and Cruise walking along the Berlin Wall. The scene was Hunley describing his past as a spy. The scene showed their friendship and their possible shared history between them. He said,

“There was originally an opening of this movie that began with Tom and Alec Baldwin walking along the Berlin Wall. They’re walking along the wall and you slowly realize it’s the Berlin Wall. And it’s Alec Baldwin talking to Ethan about his life as a spy, and how he became a spy. You realize it’s him counseling Ethan.

You’re seeing a glimpse into the friendship of these two characters that existed prior to Fallout. That notion of Alec Baldwin being a spirit guide to Ethan in his memory was a very, very early idea to the story, something I was keenly interested in.”

This would indeed have been a great scene if it was included in the film. Baldwin is not expected to return for Mission Impossible 8 as well amidst his ongoing case. Fans can watch Baldwin as Alan Hunley in two aforementioned films on Paramount+.
