Creating a decent trailer, let alone a perfect one, that makes someone wanna go and watch the film is certainly not an easy task. There sometimes are going to be mix-ups which might confuse the fans. However, creators do take the creative liberty of patching different parts of the movie together to make an entertaining and gripping trailer. It looks like that’s what happened with Shazam! Fury of the Gods as well.

A Twitter user who goes by the username, @FanCultureTalks, pointed out a couple of mistakes in the trailer of Shazam 2. The first mistake points out the battle damage on Shazam’s left side. However, in the next shot, the same battle damage is seen on his right side. Next, the user brought to light the scene in the trailer where Shazam shoots lighting out of his hand. While in one shot the lighting comes out of his left hand, in the next shot it’s seen coming out of his right. Check out the video below.

Now, while these few, minute inconsistencies aren’t anything to really have a discussion about, Director David F. Sandberg wasn’t letting it go unexplained. He replied to the user giving clear explanations of the supposed inconsistencies. First Sandberg talked about the battle damage stating that the shot was mirrored. As for the lighting shot, he stated that it was two different shots stitched together.

That’s not all. Another user, @DareRider8, stated that the shot with Shazam’s family had no shadows showing up. Sandberg replied to him as well stating that strong shadows aren’t seen in soft lights.

In the end, Sandberg concluded that if the only complaint people have with the trailer is about shadows and mirrored shots, then they must be “doing something right.” Sandberg taking time out to erase the confusion of the fans goes on to say that he truly wants them to understand whatever’s going on.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sandberg talked about how the movie will also show Shazam’s connection to the family he found in the first installment of the franchise.

It’s sort of an extension of the first movie. He finally found a family in that movie. But now, we see him struggling a bit now that they’re growing up. He’s holding on very tightly to his family because he doesn’t want everyone to just scatter and go do their own thing. He just found his family, and he wants to have them all together.”

It looks like the sequel is not only going to be absolutely action-packed but will also show a different side of the main character played by Zachary Levi. However, for those who love the lightheartedness of Shazam!, worry not as the director has confirmed that the fun tone will still be there, in addition to all the seriousness.
