Sydney Sweeney’s recently released film, Immaculate, has horror fans in a choke-hold. The film has an excellent premise, as well as a cast full of some extremely talented actors. The cinematography is excellent and it has some of the most beautiful shots in the genre. While these things, on their own, could help with the film’s success, it is its marketing that has the audiences even more impressed.

The best example of this would be a recent promotional video released by the movie. In this, Sweeney watches the film with pastors, inside a church. The experience got so out of hand that the actress felt the need to apologize and wondered if this would get her banned from the church.

Pastors Watch In Horror

The official account for Sydney Sweeney’s recent film, Immaculate, posted a video in promotion of the film and it is bound to raise some eyebrows. As a form of marketing, the actress watched the horror film in a protestant church with two pastors. The situation seems perfectly on brand considering the film follows the story of a nun who gets caught in a web of horrors when she becomes pregnant, even though she is a virgin.

Being treated as the Virgin Mary herself, she is subjected to some truly heinous behavior at the hands of unfamiliar clergy. The film has been called extremely terrifying and disturbing by many critics so watching it in a church with pastors sounds picturesque in the most bizarre way.

“This movie has officially gone too far.” said one of the pastors.

When watching the movie, the two pastors were horrified at the graphic violence. There were several scenes where they were forced to look away or turn to Sweeney for answers as to what they were watching. At the same time, they were verifying if the religious bureaucracy shown in the film was accurate or not.

Sydney Sweeney Begs For Forgiveness

While the pastors were having the time of their lives fact-checking the holy film, Sydney Sweeny seemed to be deeply uncomfortable with what she was doing. Embarrassed at what she was being subjected to, she was cringing quite a lot during the streaming of Immaculate. Hilariously, at one point, the actress accidentally cursed in the church and pastors told her that she would be fine as they would pray for her.

After the credits rolled around, she felt the need to apologize for what they had just seen, even though the ratings of the film had been “immaculate”. During the climax of the film, the pastors were so scandalized that she felt the need to ask them if she was banned from the church for good.

“Am I banned from the church?” she asked, “Thank you, guys. I’m also terribly sorry. Please pray for me?”

She finished by thanking them for watching the film with her, apologizing to them for what they were forced to spectate. She even asked them to play for her. It is safe to say that the entire experience was quite bizarre.

Immaculate has been released in theaters.
