Deadpool and Wolverine released its first teaser, taking the internet by storm. Released during the Big Game, the teaser had a lot of juicy details that have had fans excited beyond imagination. A host of fan theories and fan art have been pouring onto the internet in the wake of the teaser, once again igniting old debates about who should play the variants of characters allegedly teased in the trailer.
One of the characters that has been teased in the film, is Patch, a version of Wolverine who dresses in a white suit and wears an eye patch. The rumors for this character have already been going wild, with predictions saying that this variant of Wolverine will not be played by Hugh Jackman. Among the likely candidates is, once again, Daniel Radcliffe, who has been fan-cast as the MCU’s version of the character multiple times.
Fanart with Daniel Radcliffe has been circulating online already
While it is yet to be confirmed whether the character is going to be played by a different character, fan art has surfaced online, putting Daniel Radcliffe in the suit of the iconic mutant.

The fanart imagines Radcliffe as a more comics-accurate Wolverine, given that the actor is closer to the height of the character in the comics. While the white-suited Wolverine could just be Logan on a mission, given the multiversal nature of the film, it would be the perfect place to introduce and cast a younger actor in the role of Wolverine.
Wolverine is one the most iconic characters to come out of the mutant side of the Marvel Universe. Needless to say, once Mutants have been officially introduced into the MCU, Wolverine will be expected to stick around in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is highly unlikely that Hugh Jackman’s arrangement with the studio might be a short-term affair, given that the actor has talked about how physically demanding the role is, and how difficult it will be for him to sustain it long-term.
It makes sense for Marvel to introduce a younger actor in the role of Wolverine in Deadpool and Wolverine, given that we might see Hugh Jackman in just a couple more appearances, perhaps culminating in Secret Wars.
Radcliffe’s Wolverine would finally round out the younger cast of the X-Men
Almost every principal character in the X-Men universe has an older version and a younger version of the same characters. Mystique, Magneto, Professor X, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, and Beast, all have their younger versions existing in the the Fox-verse. Wolverine remains one of the only main protagonists in the X-Men universe to not have a younger version of himself cast, at least one who could carry the role for a while, along with the other actors.
Casting a younger Wolverine would give Marvel Studios a fixed template of characters to go with for the next few years of the MCU. Given that a soft-reboot opportunity is on the horizon with Secret Wars, Marvel can use the upcoming projects to see which actors fit which roles and resonate with fans, before sealing them in their characters for the upcoming phases.
