If I told you Ellie from The Last of Us games would be voicing a character for the upcoming Among Us series, how would you react? Hopefully with anticipation, as it’s happening! The show was revealed to be in the works in mid-2023, there was complete silence—until now.
Headed by CBS Studios and based on the popular mobile game that had everyone by the throat during the dreaded pandemic lockdown era, the series promises to translate the suspense and comedic horror of the game into the TV show format. And we’ve got a star-studded cast to look forward to doing exactly that.
The Last of Us Star Ashley Johnson and Others Join Among Us Series
CBS Studios’ upcoming Among Us animated series has finally announced its first voice cast members, revealing a star-studded lineup whose names you’ll recognize: Randall Park, Yvette Nicole Brown, Elijah Wood, and Ashley Johnson.
Randall Park is well-known for his role as Louis Huang in Fresh Off The Boat and as Agent Jimmy Woo in the MCU, while Yvette Nicole Brown has received major praise as devoted Christian mother Shirley Bennett in Community.
Elijah Wood rose to critical fame for his portrayal of Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings series, and award-winning voice actress Ashley Johnson voiced Ellie in The Last of Us games among other popular characters.
Randall Park will voice ‘Red,’ the captain of The Skeld, bringing his comedic charm to the character described as a people-pleaser and blowhard. Yvette Nicole Brown voices ‘Orange,’ HR personnel portrayed as a spineless corporate shill with a penchant for eliminating redundancy.
Elijah Wood portrays ‘Green,’ an unpaid intern happy to be there, whose tasks include whatever he’s told. Ashley Johnson takes on the role of ‘Purple,’ the Chief of Security, bringing safety, suspicion, and sarcasm to the character.
Each character adds a unique dynamic to the ensemble cast, promising an engaging and entertaining viewing experience for fans of the game and newcomers alike.
What is the Among Us Animated TV Series?
The show is a collaboration between CBS Eye Animation Productions and Innersloth, the game’s independent studio.
It follows the premise of the game, where crew members must identify an alien shapeshifter among them before it’s too late. The animation will be handled by Titmouse, known for its work on shows like Big Mouth and Star Trek: Lower Decks.
We’re yet to see which network or streaming website the show will be hosted on, as the last exclusive report on this issue stated that discussions were still ongoing.
Unfortunately, no information has been revealed yet about a release date. We can only hope to see it out soon. With the major names that are now attached to this project, the animated show is not one to miss.
