Ever since Andrew Garfield’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been clamoring for a revival of the actor’s Sony movie franchise. The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel saw Garfield transform into a version of the superhero that won the hearts of the audience.
The rumors of a third film have plagued the Internet for quite some time, and it seems fans won’t rest until Sony gives the Hacksaw Ridge star another chance at redemption.
Andrew Garfield Worries No One Will Believe Him Anymore
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Andrew Garfield admitted he has no more information to share with the fans after his hilarious tricks convincing people that he has no participation in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor stated:
“No update from me. No one’s going to believe anything I say ever again. That’s my problem.”
Regardless, Garfield remains open to the idea of returning to the character for the fourth time. He remarked via the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the story should be very special and would honor the legacy of the character:
“In terms of moving forward with the character, yes, I am definitely open to that. Again, it would have to be something very unique, very special, and serving to an audience and in service of the character. There’s something playful and unique and odd and unexpected to be done.”
He also confessed he would like to team up again with his fellow Spider-Man actors. For Garfield, the trio has some sort of chemistry:
“I would love to continue working with Tobey [Maguire] and with Tom [Holland]. That kind of three-brother dynamic is so juicy.”
The Silence actor echoed the same thoughts when he reflected on the character of Peter Parker via Variety:
“He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself.”
Now that Garfield refuses to share any updates about the possibility of his return in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, fans can only hope that this is another funny trick of the actor.
Andrew Garfield Had So Much Fun Lying To Spider-Man Fans
Andrew Garfield admitted he enjoyed deceiving people when he said he was not in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although he hates the act of lying, he looks at it as a game. He explained to TheWrap:
“It was rather stressful but also weirdly enjoyable. It was like this massive game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists and with people guessing, and it was very fun. There were moments where I was like, ‘God, I hate lying.’ I don’t like to lie, and I’m not a good liar, but I kept framing it as a game.”
Interestingly, Garfield said he would definitely want to be lied to and later find out the truth when he’s already watching the movie in the theatre. The thrill of it makes up for the deception.
“I would want the actor to do an incredibly good job at convincing me he wasn’t in it. And then I would want to lose my mind in the theatre when my instinct was proven right. That’s what I would want. I was happy to do it, but it was a lot of work on everyone’s part.”
At this point, the only thing fans want more than anything is an announcement on the possible third sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, so better keep your eyes peeled and stay tuned for more updates!
