Which Film Did Angelina Jolie Lose to Sandra Bullock

Initially, Alfonso Cuaron had envisioned Angelina Jolie and Robert Downey Jr. as the lead actors for his acclaimed film, Gravity. While the film’s success brought him immense gratification, the production process proved to be quite taxing. Moreover, the director’s original concept was considerably more subdued, with a less elaborate storyline.

“I thought I had written a small movie … just one character floating in space,” Cuaron said. “We started developing stuff to figure out the technology. And the luxury [was] that we could try many things.”

The filmmaker also revealed that the film’s original cast was quite distinct from the final lineup of Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. The filmmaker attributed this change to his discussions with various actors, including Jolie, who eventually opted to work on a different project, namely her directorial venture, Unbroken, leading to parting ways.

Angeline Jolie Fired Her Manager After Losing Gravity

In 2013, there were reports that Jolie cut ties with her manager due to the conflict that arose after losing the lead role in Gravity. With the film’s remarkable triumph, it had the potential to propel Jolie’s career to new heights. According to a report,

“For years, Jolie has relied on her controlling manager, Geyer Kosinski, who blocked her from the Hollywood community and demanded producing credits and fees for himself on most of her projects.

But Kosinski’s stock tumbled with “Gravity,” when the monster hit moved from Universal to Warner Bros. over money and Jolie was replaced by Sandra Bullock, who will reap a fortune and probably get a Best Actress Oscar nomination.”

With Gravity clinching seven Oscars and Sandra Bullock receiving high acclaim for her performance, it was disappointing for Jolie, who had come tantalizingly close to being a part of the project. Even though Bullock boosted her career with the role, she admitted that filming the movie wasn’t easy.

Gravity is available for streaming on HBO Max. It can also be rented or purchased on Google Play and Amazon Instant Video.
