The Syncornic actor took sides with Tom Cruise as he yelled at his crew for breaking the COVID-19 protocols during the filming of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

As per the Independent, Mackie said, 

“Tom Cruise was 100 percent right. And more people need to be yelling and screaming and enraged by the idea that some people aren’t taking Covid seriously.” 

The Captain America: Civil War star, during his interview further stated,

“Look at it this way. Ving Rhames is a sixtysomething-year-old black man, and COVID has killed an exponentially large amount of older black people. So, if someone’s going to bring Covid to the set and give it to Ving Rhames he’s at high risk of not surviving.”

Anthony Mackie even discussed a few satirical moments about the time when he was filming the 2004 movie, Million Dollar Baby. He joked about how he was punched for real by Morgan Freeman. And even after telling this to Clint Eastwood, the director of the movie, how he was made fun of by both of them.

It was the harsh times when COVID-19 had already taken millions of lives worldwide. Also, the seventh installment of Mission: Impossible was already delayed as 12 people had tested positive at the Italy location.

When it got a green flag later, it was just two weeks into the production when a few crew members were seen infracting the protocols, strictly given to protect everyone from the deadly virus. This seemed to be a legit reason to make Tom Cruise nervous. 

In the viral audio, the Jerry Maguire actor as per The Sun can be heard yelling at his crewmembers 

“If I see you do it again, you’re f***ing gone.”

Cruise further getting off with his frustration can be heard saying

“We are the gold standard. They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. Because they believe in us and what we’re doing. I’m on the phone with every f***ing studio at night, insurance companies, producers and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf***ers. I don’t ever want to see it again. Ever!” 

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, is the seventh installment in the blockbuster franchise that was first introduced in 1996. The 2023 movie, is also the first of the two movies that will conclude the epic saga that has given us a lot of action and will have the audience screaming one last time for its eighth and final installment, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two. The second installment will released on June 28. 2024.
