Cruise, on the other hand, is one of the most popular celebrities known to exercise Scientology. Unfortunately, the religion played a big part in his divorce from his ex-wife Nicole Kidman. The actress used to be part of it, but she admitted to leaving the practice a long time ago.

John Stamos Failed To Become Part Of The Church Of Scientology

John Stamos recalled in If You Would Have Told Me via US Weekly how his former acting teacher’s assistant handed him a Scientology book. She sneakily added it to the stack of books she gave to the actor. He opened the volume and was surprised about its contents:

I’m walking to my car, and Mia runs out and hands me my workbooks. ‘Hey, you forgot these.’ She adds an extra book, the size of a brick, to my stack. ‘Start with this one,’ she says, smiling. ‘I think it will open your eyes to some amazing things.’ I crack open the book while on my shift at Yellow Basket [restaurant]. There’s a lot about control: controlling your reactionary mind, controlling energy, controlling space, and controlling time.”

The assistant, Mia, later gave him an address and encouraged the actor to meet at Scientology’s Celebrity Centre. He was charmed by the idea and Mia’s invitation but soon felt hesitant because he saw how “creepy” the building was.

Stamos described the place as “grand, ornate and creepy as f—k — a cross between Chateau Marmont, Disney’s Haunted Mansion and a mental hospital.”

When he attended an auditing session, he was asked to wear an E-meter, an apparatus that claims to read emotional states and identify stored engrams, which is responsible for the memories of past traumatic events. He further relayed what questions were thrown at him during his time at the center:

He begins to question me about committing crimes, asks if I have negative thoughts about Scientology or L. Ron Hubbard and probes into some strange sex inquiries. The Wayback Machine needle jumps in the corner, and Mia looks disappointed. Apparently, I’m not Scientology material. Darn it.”

This was the end of John Stamos’ short experience with Scientology. The actor never mentioned if he met Tom Cruise in the church.

Meanwhile, Top Gun actor Tom Cruise seems to be staying away from the Church of Scientology for the past few years. Because of his busy work schedule and frequent stay in the UK filming for Mission: Impossible, he was never spotted attending any Scientology headquarters.

According to a report from Mirror, Cruise has not visited one of the most famous UK centers for the past couple of years. The outlet wrote:

It was claimed in 2021 that Tom was ‘drifting away’ from Scientology after years of being the poster boy for the religion. New reports that the Top Gun actor has been absent from one of their most famous UK bases over the last three years has further fuelled speculation about Tom’s relationship with the church.”

Cruise’s two children with Nicole Kidman, Connor and Isabella, have become high-ranking members of the church.
