The newest film from director Matthew Vaughn — the director behind such movies as Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class, and Kick-Ass — Argylle is a blockbuster, globe-trotting spy comedy with a massive cast, including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, Bryan Cranston, Dua Lipa, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, and more.
In Argylle, Howard plays an author named Elly Conway, the creator of a popular franchise of espionage-centric novels. Eventually, she encounters a secret agent named Aidan (Rockwell), who tells her that her books have caught the eye of a real-life secret intelligence organization called the Division because they closely resemble reality. She must finish the story before the MacGuffin — a file exposing corruption in the Division — falls into the wrong hands.

Who is the real Agent Argylle?
In the middle of the movie, former CIA Director Alfie (Samuel L. Jackson) reveals that Elly Conway is actually an amnesiac operative of the Division named Rachel Kylle. Her memory was erased while on a mission to recover the list of Division agents. The Division then brainwashed her into acting as an espionage novelist — and the Argylle novels are her memories. Thus, Elly is the real Agent Argylle.
Over time, Elly/Rachel regains her memories and realizes she is a super spy. This culminates in a battle on the Division’s warship base. However, before she can send the file to Alfie, her brainwashing is activated, and she fights Aidan. Just as she is about to kill Aidan, Keira (Ariana DeBose) — a former associate of Rachel and Aidan’s who was presumed dead — saves the day and knocks Rachel back into consciousness. The trio rides off into the sunset as the Division’s ship explodes behind them.
Later, we see that Rachel has resumed her life as Elly — at least for long enough to close out the Argylle series. At a book reading event, an audience member asks what happens to the characters. She explains that Keira has become a successful tech genius and that Argylle (as a stand-in for herself) and Wyatt (as a stand-in for Aidan) lived happily ever after, continuing to spend their days together.
Then, much to Elly’s surprise, a man who looks like Argylle stands up in disguise and asks a question. Is there *actually* an Agent Argylle?

Yes, Argylle has a mid-credits scene.
In the mid-credits scene, a young man (Louis Partridge, Enola Holmes) walks into a pub called “The King’s Man” — showing that Argylle does indeed share the universe with Vaughn’s other spy franchise, Kingsman. At the counter, he says some coded phrases before revealing his name to be Audrey Argylle. We then see a teaser of a book cover for “Argylle: The First Book – The Movie.”

The future of Argylle
This mid-credits scene aligns with Vaughn’s previous teases that Argylle is intended to start a new franchise that crosses over with the Kingsman film. However, the next movie in the franchise seemingly won’t focus on the adventures of Howard and Rockwell’s Rachel Kylle and Aidan, but instead, be a prequel about the younger version of Cavill’s Agent Argylle — perhaps with some run-ins with characters from Kingsman.
