PG-13 means parents should keep an eye on their kids because things in the movie might not be okay for those under 13. It could include more intense language, violence, or adult situations, including drugs.

Argylle is also of the same rating, and Vaughn explained that he got pretty annoyed having to make some cuts to keep the film PG-13.

The director, Matthew Vaughn, said that certain movies, like Kick-Ass, require an R rating (restricted). But for films like Argylle, he believes the rating should naturally match the content without trying to fit a specific rating.

He stated that the rating should accurately represent the nature of the film rather than being forced to meet a particular classification. The English filmmaker recently told Total Film magazine while discussing the film’s rating.

“These are movies that didn’t need to be an R, like ‘Kick-Ass’ needed to be,” adding, The rating should be a reflection of what the film is, not trying to make a movie for a rating.” Vaughn added that they “had to make a few little cuts to get it to PG-13.” He continued:

“Two of them annoyed the hell out of me, but, hey, ho. I was like, ‘Really, that makes it an R?’ It sort of made me laugh. I didn’t know this at the time but head shots give you an R, chest shots don’t. I said, ‘I don’t understand that because shooting someone in the chest is acceptable, but then the head is really bad?’ I don’t think most people care where you’re going to get shot. If you’re gonna get shot, you’re gonna get shot.”

Even with the challenges he faced, the 52-year-old director was all about making a movie that felt right — not worrying about some rating rulebook.
