With Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle approaching its release date on February 2, John Cena appeared on Good Morning America to promote his film. Working alongside renowned faces like Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa, Cena recalled his experience during the interview. While claiming to be Lipa’s emotional support, Cena admitted getting intimidated by Cavill.
Watching the trailer of the film together, John Cena and the GMA panelists discussed interesting details from behind the scenes. Meanwhile, speaking about the upcoming movie, Cena mentioned how nervous he was to work alongside Henry Cavill.
John Cena was Heavily Intimidated by Henry Cavill
After making his exit from the wrestling universe, John Cena ventured into Hollywood and appeared in a couple of renowned projects alongside two billion-dollar franchises. Famously known for appearing as Peacemaker in DC and Dominic Toretto’s little brother, Jakob Toretto, in the Fast & Furious films, Cena soon turned into a Hollywood A-lister.
Recently, John Cena took on a leading role in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming spy parody Argylle, alongside Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa. With the film set to release on February 2, the actor appeared on Good Morning America to promote his movie. During his interview, panelists expressed their shock to witness almost every renowned face in the film and asked Cena about his experience working with them.

“Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Katherine O’Hara, Samuel L Jackson, Henry Cavill… how do you get so many people in the movie? And let me just ask, are you guys ever on the set at the same time? Is there that much fun as it seems?” the host asked.
“My experience was acting across Henry Cavill and acting next to Dua Lipa, so that was a nervous day on set for me. And the way Matthew can get all these people is simply by making great movies.” Cena replied.
It seems for John Cena, leading two billion dollar franchises was easier than working across Henry Cavill in Argylle. Admitting to be intimidated by the English actor, Cena recalled being nervous on set.
John Cena Admitting Being Dua Lipa’s Emotional Support
After opening up about his filming experience across from Henry Cavill, John Cena proceeded to watch Matthew Vaughn‘s Argylle trailer along with the GMA panelists. Watching the stunts performed by Dua Lipa in the movie, one host asked if it was a stunt double, and Cena was quick to dismiss it and appreciate Lipa’s commitment to her work.
Watching John Cena appreciate Dua Lipa onscreen, the host asked about the time when the singer called him her “emotional support actor”. Smiling at the compliment, Cena recalled his work experience with Lipa during Barbie and Argylle. After sharing the screen in Vaughn’s spy parody, the duo reappeared in Greta Gerwig‘s summer blockbuster.
Finding a friend in John Cena after working on two projects, Dua Lipa confided to Rolling Stone that she considers him her “emotional support actor”. Following that interview, even Cena told PEOPLE, “my takeaway from that comment, which I’m very grateful for, is we shot this before Barbie, so this was her first chance to be on-screen. She was vulnerable enough to admit she was nervous.”
Thus, acting as a support system for the English singer, John Cena concluded by saying that he had an amazing experience working with Dua Lipa and he’s glad that she had a similar experience, as well.
