Margot Robbie has pretty much emerged as one of the most notable actresses in recent times, garnering acclaim for her roles in films like The Wolf of Wall Street, The Suicide Squad and of course – Barbie. However, Barbie has received quite a few snubs from the Oscars this year. In fact, some bitter fans recreated American Ferrera’s speech in Barbie to protest against Dua Lipa not getting the Oscar nod for Best Original Song.
Barbie, with the sincere efforts of Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and others, is a cultural phenomenon that is expected to stand the test of time. Despite anticipation and hopes for Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, and Actress, the film faced disappointment as its two key figures were surprisingly snubbed at the prestigious awards.
Fans Recreated America Ferrera’s Barbie Speech As A Form Of Protest Against Dua Lipa Not Getting Oscar Nod
As mentioned above, Barbie faced a lot of snubs during the Oscars this year and this caused an outrage. This included the fact that Dua Lipa’s Dance The Night didn’t get an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

I get Margot and Greta, but Dua and that song didn’t deserve a nomination. Best Original Song is usually awarded to songs that are an integral part of the storytelling, and that is not the case here. 🤷🏾♂️

You have to be a leading lady but you can’t be nominated for best actress. You have to be a strong female director but you can’t be nominated for best director. You have to have a wildly popular dance song but you can’t be nominated for best original song. pic.twitter.com/yhlpS4AdTv

In light of this massive snub from the Oscars, quite a few bitter fans took to Twitter and recreated America Ferrera’s Barbie speech about women, but changed it to be about Dua Lipa not getting her dues in the Oscars.

Margot Robbie Confirmed There Are No Immediate Plans For Barbie 2
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie broke several records as it earned an earth-shattering $1.4 billion at the Box Office. Because of the movie’s major success, it was a given that a sequel would be made. However, fans might be in for a disappointment in that regard.
While speaking to AP Entertainment, Margot Robbie was asked about a sequel to Barbie. Margot Robbie made it clear that when they made the first film, they didn’t have any sequels planned for the future.
“I think we put everything into this one. We didn’t build it to be a trilogy or something. It was like Greta put everything into this movie, so I can’t imagine what would be next.”
Fans are likely to express disappointment over the potential lack of a sequel for Barbie. Despite this, Margot Robbie’s upcoming projects offer hope for future enjoyment, which is at least better than not getting any films featuring her.
