Apart from playing numerous action-packed roles, Arnold Schwarzenegger entered the comic book world by portraying the DC villain Mr Freeze in 1997’s Batman and Robin. While this was the actor’s only tryst with a superhero franchise, a recent stunning piece of fan art proved that Schwarzenegger would have also been the perfect choice to play Marvel’s Bruce Banner aka the Hulk.

The Terminator star is the pioneer of the kind of physique that led the way for many people to get into bodybuilding in a big way. In this alternative fan art, the actor is seen flexing his trademark huge biceps in a pair of denim shorts which shows his bulging thigh muscles.

This very ‘schwarzenegger-esque’ form of the Hulk mirrors many of the star’s iconic looks in films. While there is no real possibility that the True Lies actor will ever get to play the character, this image is proof that his version of the Hulk would have rocked the world.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Has No Regrets About Playing Mr Freeze in Failed Batman Film

1997’s Batman and Robin starring George Clooney as the titular superhero failed to impress critics and audiences. To date, this Joel Schumacher directorial remains one of the least loved Batman films despite having a glittering star cast that also included Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr Freeze. Despite having some of the cheesiest lines in the film, the action star embraced his character and the garish look fully and had a blast doing the role.

While George Clooney has gone on record to apologize for this film and said that he did not have the courage to show Batman and Robin even to his wife, Schwarzenegger had no such issues. The Commando actor spoke to Empire Magazine in 2012 and said,

“I don’t regret it at all. I felt that the character was interesting.”

As it turned out, Schwarzenegger’s casting in Batman and Robin proved to be the only saving grace amidst the harsh criticism that the film received from all corners.
