Originally slated to release on May 7, 2027, Marvel’s highly-anticipated project Avengers: Secret Wars is now facing disruptions, giving rise to a looming uncertainty over its release. Both, the writer’s strike and the impeding actor’s strike have cast a shadow over the movie’s release date. Even though Deadpool 3 has managed to emerge from the challenges, it seems like Secret Wars might face delays, impacting Marvel’s upcoming Phase 6.
However, amidst the turmoil, news of Marvel eyeing Sam Raimi as the director for Avengers 6 has sparked considerable interest and discussion.
But shouldn’t the Russo brothers direct Secret Wars
Reportedly, prior to the confirmation of the Secret Wars finale, fans speculated that brothers Anthony and Joe Russo would helm the project. However, the duo consistently denied their involvement, and reports of Marvel studios providing opportunities to new directors emerged.
While there are no official details as to why the Russo brothers distanced themselves from the project, many believe that it could be their prior commitment that got in the way. Whereas other theories believe that the studio does not want to be hinged solely on their involvement and is looking to diversify the talent behind the camera.
Since the news of the two not being involved in the Secret Wars project surfaced online, many speculated about the prospect of Sam Raimi, famous for directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to be the next choice for Marvel.
Fans react to the prospect of Sam Raimi rejoining the MCU
Reports about Secret Wars suggest that nearly all Marvel characters from previous superhero movies might appear in the project. This might open the doors for the characters from the X-Men series like Hugh Jackman as well as the Spider-Verse, including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
While fans are excited about these projects, many demand to bring back Tony Maguire in Spider-Man 4.T And hence, this new possibility of Sam Raimi rejoining the MCU has left fans conflicted. While many believe this to be a logical step for the studio, some others are not exactly happy with the possibility.
A bit conflicted with this choice. Sam Raimi feels better suited for a solo hero movie rather than a saga ending Avengers ensemble.
The Illuminati scenes in Multiverse of Madness (ESPECIALLY the fight against Wanda) were the weakest of the film. Yes, it might’ve been the… https://t.co/zYrCjk4gZX

I think Sam Raimi is the best option among the possible ones, he is a director who has his own style, he has already worked in superhero movies that have been a success and he manages to deliver epic scenes in his movies.

I hope they end up going with someone else

I’m against it.
Multiverse of Madness wasn’t my favorite and I don’t think his Spider-Man movies have aged well. I was stoked to see what he could do in the MCU when he signed on, but I was disappointed by the result. I just feel like he’s gonna make it cheesy.

The only way this gets me excited is if Tobey’s Spider-Man plays a decent part in it….otherwise no thank you

However, it’s essential to note that no official statement regarding Raimi’s involvement has been confirmed. With delays stemming from the writers’ and actors’ strike, the future of the Marvel projects seems to be uncertain at the moment.
