Mirage has made the first departure from open-world RPG gameplay since 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins and heads back to the roots of the series, which was made popular by focusing on stealth, assassination, and parkour. Even though the game seems to be a hit across the board, some fans have hit Reddit to share some setting changes they have made to considerably increase the immersion of the game, something this kind of game benefits greatly from.

The settings in question are focused on the game HUD, which user zoobatt urges fans to address to improve their experience with the impressive world of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and its Baghdad setting. They recommend that players turn off as much of the HUD as possible, which in turn makes the game “extremely immersive” and then add a list of all the options to adjust. Other users jumped onto the post to confirm the settings are the best way to go, even on the older Assassin’s Creed games.

I’m playing in Arabic with nearly the entire HUD removed, including some things you might think are essential like contextual actions and the aiming reticle. I’m even trying to see if it’s possible to play (without too much trouble) without the world markers (like objective).

With a completely clean screen, the game is so immersive. Especially with all the NPC chatter in Arabic, it’s incredible just walking the streets. Stealth is satisfying when you can’t wallhack every enemy or track them with markers

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has quite a few different options that can be tweaked to customize your experience. And with the right amount of tweaks, you can make your journey through Baghdad all the more immersive.

Here are some of the settings taken from the Reddit post that players have confirmed to dramatically increase immersion (according to user zoobatt):

  • compass (don’t need it, just consult the map and eagle for a general direction and use your world clues and cues)
  • control reminders (unnecessary once you learn the controls)
  • health and stamina (unnecessary, you die in a few hits and run out of stamina after a few swings. Just remember if you’re hit, you’re almost dead and if you swing a few times, you’re almost out of stamina).
  • enemy indicators/health (unnecessary, just keep track of which borough you’re in and make sure it’s within your rank, and enemies will die quickly)
  • target lock (don’t need it, much cleaner combat without that thing)
  • enemy proximity (disable it for a better stealth challenge)

The post from zoobatt didn’t stop at what settings to change; they also went on to address Ubisoft directly if they happen to come across the thread, offering some more options they should add for players to experiment with. Considering the thread has gained a fair bit of traction from users, the likelihood of Ubisoft picking up on it should be pretty high.

Have you tried these recommended settings? Do you prefer the game with the HUD or without? Which options would you want Ubisoft to add? Get in touch, drop us a comment, and let us know your thoughts.
