Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released just last week and took over the hyped fans who were waiting impatiently to get their hands on the game. Taking the series back to its roots, gamers play as Basim with the game taking players back to medieval Baghdad. While the game has so far received fairly positive reviews from both critics and gamers, there was one feature in the game that annoyed gamers.

A graphical effect called ‘chromatic aberration’ frustrated players as there was no way of turning the effect off, until now. Ubisoft seems to have listened to fan uproar since launch day about the blur effect that gave gamers an uncomfortable experience and a new patch seems to be in the works. While it’s not known when the patch will eventually arrive, players have been finding ways of removing the effect through mods or by making changes to the game’s files.

Ubisoft Working on a Patch to Toggle off Chromatic Aberration in Assassin’s Creed: Mirage

The chromatic aberration effect makes light rays pass through a camera lens which forces parts of an image to disperse into different colors. This makes leaves on trees, for example, appear blurry. Gamers started to complain about the effect giving them a headache or a dizzy feeling at times, which certainly wouldn’t let gamers enjoy the game as intended.

Gamers on Reddit have also been sharing the official Ubisoft support page asking others to raise a ticket, and requesting a toggle to be added. Following this uproar by fans, Ubisoft seems to be working on a patch to bring a toggle to turn it off. The past few days have seen players modding the game to remove the feature from the game and also tweaking the executable file to turn it off.

For anyone looking to try the mod, it can be found on the nexusmods website where a patch can be downloaded which when applied will see the effect disappear.

When one of the gamers questioned Ubisoft Support on their official X (formerly Twitter) account requesting a toggle to turn off chromatic aberration, the immediate answer by Ubisoft Support was that they have a dedicated team who were working on bringing a toggle with one of the upcoming updates.

A dedicated team working on bringing the toggle shouldn’t hopefully take forever to be patched with the next update to the game, but gamers who do not wish to wait can always make use of mods for now. One user also mentioned that the game’s chromatic aberration isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be on PC when running the game on 4K with DLAA, in other words, at native resolution. Nonetheless, the team behind Assassin’s Creed announced the title’s success with regard to unit sales.

That query to Ubisoft asking for a toggle to turn off chromatic aberration and Ubisoft’s eventual response, was all under a post by the official Assassin’s Creed account on X, celebrating the title’s success.

Announcing the news, the official post thanked fans for the “positive reception” the title has received so far. In terms of sales to date, combining Xbox Series Consoles and PlayStation 5 copies, the title is now said to be the “biggest New Gen launch”. The team congratulated the Bordeaux Studio and the partners for this accomplishment.

This was followed by an insane stat revealed by the team from the game’s first week of release that includes an equivalent of 479 collective years that players have spent parkouring the rooftops of Baghdad, 60 million Leaps of Faith by gamers and 1.2 million street cats that players have pet so far.
