Ubisoft is no stranger to getting crucial details about its titles leaked way before they are scheduled to see the light of day, and Assassin’s Creed has almost always been the victim. Whether it’s through low-quality footage on Reddit or an insider reveal on X (formerly Twitter), leaks have frequently found their way online.
Fans had been asking Ubisoft to make an Assassin’s Creed set in Feudal Japan for years, and the publisher finally listened to the community’s requests with a new AC title codenamed Red. However, the protagonist from the upcoming game has apparently been leaked, similar to how it has been in the past. What stands out about this leak is that it was revealed through the professional platform LinkedIn, which is something nobody really expects to happen.
Who Is the Supposed Protagonist in Assassin’s Creed Red?
As mentioned before, it has become kind of a tradition for Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed games to leak well ahead of time, and it does not seem to be stopping anytime soon. The highly anticipated upcoming instalment in the AC series is codenamed Red, and it is the first time that a game in the franchise is taking a trip to Feudal Japan.
The most surprising thing about the leak regarding the supposed protagonist of the game is that it has come directly from one of the developers working on it.
The leak about the speculated protagonist from the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game codenamed Red was shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, as it usually does in the modern gaming landscape. According to the Reddit post, one of the senior writers at Ubisoft, Pierre Boudreau, may have accidentally revealed who the next assassin in the long-running franchise could be.
Boudreau is one of the main developers working on AC Codename Red, and he apparently changed the cover photo on his LinkedIn account to an image of the supposed protagonist from the upcoming game.
Potentially realizing the mistake that he made, Boudreau wasted very little time switching the picture back to one that showed Eivor, the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The image consisted of the signature red backdrop that fits the upcoming AC title’s overall aesthetic and prominently featured a female assassin at the forefront.
She is seen holding a katana, and to make things more obvious, there is also a pagoda and a Japanese-themed Assassin’s Creed logo, just in case it was not clear.
Of course, LinkedIn cover photos do not exactly always show the full image, so no one really gets to see it in its entirety. Although Boudreau has already deleted the picture from his profile, the Internet works in fast and mysterious ways, so it can still be found online. The Potential Name of the Assassin’s Creed Red Protagonist
The aforementioned image is not the only latest leak that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red and Ubisoft have fallen victim to because the female protagonist’s name may have also been revealed by yet another source. According to a leaker known mainly by his X handle, j0nathan, the supposed name of the upcoming assassin has also been revealed.
For those unfamiliar with j0nathan, he has apparently been quite a credible source when it comes to Ubisoft leaks in the past, especially since AC Origins.
j0nathan shared the supposedly leaked information through a post on X, and although it is all written in French, putting it through a little Google Translate made things much more clear. The upcoming female assassin is speculated to be called Naoi/Naoé, but of course, nothing can be said for certain just yet.
This is because Valhalla‘s Eivor was initially rumored to be called Jora, so it is always wise to take these leaks with a grain of salt.
The now-removed LinkedIn cover photo also apparently has her Japanese name written under the Assassin’s Creed logo. Her origins are supposedly quite similar to Bayek’s, as her father is killed by a member of the Order, leading to her seeking revenge, which motivates her to become a part of the Shinobi.
