DC has already signaled the renewal of the series but Gotham’s local hero Batman could be out of the picture. The producer of the show, Josephine Campbell appeared on the Superman Homepage YouTube channel to reveal details of the show’s upcoming season.

My Adventures With Superman May Not Feature Batman

My Adventures With Superman, as per the producer, would go narrow instead of exploring the vastness of the DC Universe. The show won’t focus on many of the frontline DC characters as well. Certainly, Batman has a history and reputation of being one of the most profitable characters in the DC, and his presence on the show could elevate the very gravity of the plot altogether. But that’s not going to be the case in the Jack Quaid series. On the Superman Homepage YouTube channel, Josephine Campbell addressed why he prefers Superman over Batman.

“Now, as soon as the word or the title, ‘Gotham Gazette,’ got thrown up, fans online jump straight to, ‘Batman, Batman, Batman.’ As a Superman fan, I’ve got nothing against Batman, but as a Superman fan, please tell me we’re going to be concentrating on Superman in Season 2…”

Campbell’s indication is pretty clear as the path he created for the character may not require the highlighted presence of Batman or the likes of other DC superheroes. The first season highly focused on the origin story of the character centering Gotham. In the upcoming seasons, Batman might appear but for season 2, it is highly unlikely.

Why Not Batman?

Fans have eagerly waited for the Caped Crusader but the show has spotlights on primary Superman characters including Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. “This is a Superman show,” Campbell revealed on the YouTube channel. “We have brought in some other characters, like you said, Vicki’s from Gotham, there’s some mentions of Gotham,” he added.

“But, for us, the whole point of this is, it’s about Superman. It’s about Lois, and Jimmy, and the focus is always going to be on them. We love Superman so much. I’m excited to see [Batman:] Caped Crusader when that comes out. Definitely, there’s still going to be some more mentions of Gotham, so keep an eye out. But, at the end of the day, Superman is our hero. Superman and Clark are who we love the most. And it’s who we’ve spent a couple of years writing now, so it’s what we love.”

The showrunners are not after exploiting the other superheroes even when Superman is scheduled to face off against DC’s iconic villains Brainiac and General Zod in the second season of the show.

Season 1 of My Adventures With Superman is currently streaming on Max.
