Fans have loved every aspect of every one of those games. Nowadays, it is hard to find games that have a great plot, smooth gameplay, and edge-of-the-seat visuals. Even though there have been no official confirmations about any sequel, the fans have started to make their theories surrounding the next game. While most are interesting, few of them are hated by them. Out of them, one theory is absolutely despised by the fans. It revolves around Atreus killing Kratos.

With God of War: Ragnarok wrapping up the Norse Mythology, people are speculating that the duo of Kratos and Atreus will find themselves exploring the Egyptian Mythology. The end of the game hinted that Atreus would be on his own. But any God of War games without Kratos is not worth playing. He is the face of the franchise.

Among all these theories, a certain speculation came up that Atreus is most likely to kill Kratos. Since the inception of this theory, fans despised this theory. But certain points make this theory that makes it a possibility. People who are familiar with the past God of War games will know that Zeus defeated his father, Cronos, and banished him to Tartarus. Since Cronos is a God, Zeus could not kill him.

Then Zeus’ son, Kratos, despised his father. After failing to kill him numerous times, he killed Zeus at the end of God of War 3. Thus destroying Olympus. Atreus is Kratos’ son, so this line of hatred for his father might continue for the next generation. Atreus is still young, so he has time to develop his hatred for his father.

Why Will Atreus Hate His Father?

Atreus was 11 years old during God of War (PS4) and 14 in God of War: Ragnarok. Even though he is seen to always obey his father, there are times when he is angry or upset with his father. Kratos always treats Atreus harshly. He wants him to become strong so that he can face any danger when Kratos is not around. But Atreus is too young to understand this.

Atreus grew up with his mother filling up with love. But Kratos’ method of upbringing is completely different. Atreus is a nature-loving boy, yet Kratos forces him to kill animals for survival. Atreus often went off to different worlds without his father’s permission. This used to make Kratos angry. The boy is hunted by the Norse Gods, so it is a way of protecting him.

There were times when Atreus ran off in rage. Atreus has the giant’s blood as well as the blood of Gods running in his veins. Moreover, he is the son of a Kratos, who is known for his anger issues. Atreus might hold grudges against him. Hate and despise are strong words, but Atreus has felt some kind of annoyance with his father. There are also times when they have shared special moments as father and son. Unlike Cronos and Zeus, Kratos loves his son dearly. So, there is every reason to hate his wild fan theory.
