The Avatar: The Last Airbender universe has introduced fans to some of the most intriguing characters to have ever been created. While the leading team including Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Aang’s flying bison Appa, is interesting on its own, there are other characters as well who are more amusing than the rest. One of these is Avatar Kyoshi, whom fans call the most violent airbender.

However, while Kyoshi is highly perceived by the audiences to be the true owner of this title after getting acquainted with all the ruthless acts she pulls in the series, there is another character who is more brutal than her: the Air Nomad before Aang, Yangchen. In fact, Yangchen’s inhumanity goes to such an extent that if the series showed her, Kyoshi would look like a cuddly bear in front of her!

Yangchen is at least 10 times more Violent than Avatar Kyoshi

Though the ones who have read the books may know who Yangchen is in the Avatar universe, others might be clueless because of her minimal to rare appearances in both of the animated series, i.e. The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

Moreover, she can also not be included in the live-action adaptation of The Last Airbender either because of just how violent she is. And if you’re thinking, “We’ve seen Kyoshi, what’s Yangchen in front of her?” Then, well, you’re in for a big, brutal surprise.

Before Aang was introduced, the last existing Avatar Airbender incarnate born out of the Air Nomads was Yangchen. She had mastered all of the elements in her youth and was an eager soul looking forward to making a difference in the world. However, she was equally deadly.

In the two books on her history, i.e. The Dawn of Yangchen and The Legacy of Yangchen (Chronicles of the Avatar Book 4), the Great Yangchen’s brutality has been widely elaborated.

As a fan (@gbennylola) shared on X, there was actually a time when Yangchen’s beloved flying bison got murdered. This enraged her so much that she went on to reportedly torture the woman and even laughed in her face as she begged for mercy.

If that wasn’t enough violence, Yangchen continued to threaten the woman of inevitably killing her by blowing her up. Letting fury take over her, she then even bragged about how “she would reincarnate and that the woman’s newborn would be raised by criminals.”

These actions of an incensed Yangchen where she wanted to see the woman suffer even after the woman gave her what she wanted are more than enough to prove that Avatar Kyoshi, who is considered the most hostile airbender, could quite literally look like a cuddly bear in front of her.

Avatar Fans, who thought Kyoshi was the Hostile one, are now reconsidering their thoughts

While Air Nomads are usually all happy and smiling, their temper more or less shoots through the roof when someone inflicts harm on their beloved flying bisons. Yangchen’s violent actions further justify this statement.

In fact, Yangchen’s acts of vengeance were hostile enough to convince fans to rethink their decision to impose the “most violent Avatar” title on Kyoshi. This is evident from their reactions to this revelation, which they have been sharing on X:

Since Yangchen has truly proven that so far, if there was a battle of brutality over lost bisons, she would be the one to come victorious, it would only be understandable if the creators of the live-action series of Avatar: The Last Airbender decide not to include her!
