The Marvel Cinematic Universe, in its purest form, is a vast universe filled with multiple superheroes, alternate timelines, and an infinite number of Avengers. The MCU reached its peak in 2019 when Avengers: Endgame premiered and millions of people tuned in to watch the big fight between Thanos and the superheroes end in a final battle.

The film managed to surpass fans’ expectations and went on to earn a billion dollars at the global box office. But we aren’t here to talk about money. We are here to talk about the big bad baddie Thanos himself. With deleted scenes and alternating timelines, there’s a theory on how Thanos could have been brought back in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Thanos Is Gone But He Isn’t Dead!

Let’s go back 5 years when you watched Iron Man sacrifice himself during the finale of Avengers: Endgame. When Iron Man says “And I am Iron Man” and erasing Thanos and his army from existence, we all shared a tear in sadness about the character’s death.

With Thanos turned to ash, people breathed a sigh of relief. However, the same thing happened to half of the world and yet, they came back. With half of the world (including the Avengers) getting erased from existence at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, the world had lost hope.

With some alternating timelines and the theory of Multiverse, however, the heroes were able to bring all the Avengers back during the end of Avengers: Endgame. Although Thanos was erased from existence, who’s to say for sure that someone could reverse the snap and bring back Thanos in the MCU?

The answer lies in one of the deleted scenes in Avengers: Endgame. With Disney+ releasing all the deleted scenes from the 2019 film, there are some interesting theories and speculation that could be resolved with these scenes. Most notable among them is… what if Thanos is gone and hasn’t died?

The Answer Lies In The Deleted Scenes!

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, a younger version of Thanos, who sets out to kill all the Avengers before they can reverse the snap, is erased from existence. However, a deleted scene on Disney+ shows the discussion between the Sorcerer Supreme and the Hulk but in a different way.

As per the deleted scenes, the Ancient One tells Bruce Banner that she went ahead in time with the time stone and saw Thanos snapping the Avengers out of existence. However, she further tells Banner that this snap can be reversed and proceeds to explain the alternate timeline theory.

Although this seems like a very small scene, its implications in the Marvel Cinematic Universe could have been huge. If anyone were to reverse the snap, Thanos and his entire army could easily be brought back and the events of the MCU would continue in a loop. However, the MCU may have some ace cards up its sleeve already!

If this theory is true, then it is entirely possible that we see Josh Brolin return to the role of Thanos in Avengers: Secret Wars or any other MCU film in the future. Either in a cameo or a full-fledged fighting scene, but the return of Thanos is entirely possible!

As much as we love this theory, it remains, after all, a far-fetched possibility. At the moment, nothing can be confirmed or denied about the potential return of Thanos. Avengers: Endgame and its deleted scenes are available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
