A lot of A-lister couples have broken up in the past and have gone on to make headlines for better or worse. However, when Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck decided to get divorced back in 2015, it was most probably for the best. Ben Affleck was allegedly even cheating on The Kingdom actress with the nanny of their children but Garner did not even know about it when they decided to go their separate ways.
Jennifer Garner opens up about Ben Affleck cheating on her
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner first met on the set of Pearl Harbor back in the year 2000 but it wasn’t until 2003 when the duo started getting to know each other better on the set of Daredevil. The couple went on to get married in 2005 and even had 3 kids together: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
However, after being married for more than 10 years, the couple decided to part ways as it was just not working anymore. After their separation, it was rumored that Ben Affleck was allegedly cheating on Jennifer Garner with a nanny for their children, which is why Garner decided to leave the actor.
However, Garner once revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair, that she was unaware of Affleck’s affair with the nanny before they decided to split up. She said,
“Let me just tell you something. We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives.”
Ben Affleck once also opened up about his separation from Jennifer Garner and explained how their decision was indeed the best for both of them.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner tried to work through their marriage for the sake of their kids but it wasn’t working for either of them and it eventually even started to affect their mental peace as well.
The Argo actor once even opened up about the same in an interview on The Howard Stern Show and said,
“The truth was we took our time, we made the decision … we grew apart, we had a marriage that didn’t work. This happens. It’s somebody I love and respect but to whom I shouldn’t be married any longer.
Ultimately, we tried, we tried, we tried—because we had kids—but both of us thought, ‘We don’t want this to be the model our kids see of marriage.’ I felt like we did it amicably, we did our best.“
Ben Affleck further revealed that his failing marriage with Jennifer Garner was one of the reasons he started becoming an alcoholic. He said,
“That was part of why I started drinking alcohol, I was trapped. I was like, ‘I can’t leave because of my kids, but I am not happy. What do I do?’ What I did was drink a bottle of scotch on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution.”
Despite the differences in their marriage, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were able to eventually work it out and are now doing a fantastic job of co-parenting their 3 kids together. Affleck later tied the knot with Jennifer Lopez in 2022.
