As James Gunn has decided to do a soft reboot of the DC Universe, he confirmed five new projects to hit the theatres. But Superman: Legacy is the only film in the five projects to get a release date of summer 2025. The film will feature David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. The hopes for the film are enormous as Corenswet has to fill the void of Henry Cavill, who previously helmed the role and was believed to be one of the best iterations of the character.
Superman: Legacy faced some backlash from the fans when Rachel Brosnahan stated that the film would see some changes, including Superman having humor. However, that’s not all, as David Leitch’s Jurassic World might ruin David Corenswet’s debut, as both films are set to release one week apart.
Superman: Legacy Faces Competition as Jurassic World Might Ruin Corenswet’s DCU Debut
David Leitch, the director of Bullet Train, is all set to work with Universal, as he will direct Jurassic World as per Variety. David Koepp will write the 2025 film, who was also the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The film has already gained excitement from the fans, which causes bad news for James Gunn and his upcoming project.
The film will mark the beginning of a fresh storyline in the Juggernaut series, which has spanned over three decades. However, the upcoming film has not confirmed if any of the previous stars, including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, or Jeff Goldblum, will return.
Superman: Legacy, which is going to be directed as well as written by Gunn, has piqued the interest of the fans as they are waiting night and day. With each passing day, the film is evaporating the concerns of the fans. However, the DCU film would face severe competition from Jurassic World which is a massive franchise worth $6 billion, and would ruin the dream debut of David Corenswet who will portray the role of Superman in the film.
As a result, fans were excited as they shared their opinion on X about the 2 upcoming films from the massive franchise, as they believed the battle at the box office would be worth it.

While fans shared their opinion, Superman: Legacy has an important task on their hands as Zack Snyder did several things in Man of Steel, for which he was criticized. As a result, James Gunn is trying not to follow the same path that might ruin the hype for his film.
James Gunn Takes a Different Approach For His Superman: Legacy
Even though Man of Steel was a fan-favorite film, it had many problems which it was immensely criticized for, the major one being the character having a darker take, which was not like him. As a result, Henry Cavill, who previously portrayed the role, took a similar approach to his version of the character. Naturally, his portrayal divided the fandom, as some loved it while some despised it.
However, James Gunn will not repeat the same mistake as Zack Snyder, as he is very cautious about what the public knows about Superman: Legacy. During a conversation on Threads, the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker was asked if he would release the first look of the Superman suit before the film’s release. Gunn replied, “Zero-point-zero.” This makes sure that there is no possibility of ruining the hype for the film.
Though this might be a bold decision from the filmmaker, it is very important since it safeguards the interests of the director as well as the fans. Moreover, if the new suit is released before the film, it will ruin the hype because fans tend to get extremely critical of it, and considering the recent run of DCU films, it should be for the best not to make such stunts.
Superman: Legacy will be released in theatres on 11 July 2025.
