Killzone, the now-dead first-person shooter franchise and arguably PlayStation’s flagship shooter title, was one of the most popular shooter games out there. The first was released back in 2004, and the last title came in 2013, but players have constantly been clamoring for a remake.

There have been several PlayStation remakes of popular classic games in recent years, and there will be more in the upcoming year, but sadly, none of them will be Killzone titles. A leaker has claimed that despite several remakes being in the works, Killzone fans will be left empty-handed.

Multiple PlayStation Remakes Are in Development, but Killzone Isn’t One of Them

The first game in the Killzone franchise was developed by Guerrilla Games and released in 2004 for PS2. The game received mixed and positive reviews, famously being called “Halo Killer.” The last game, Shadow Fall, was released for PS4 in 2013 and fell flat on everyone’s expectations, resulting in Guerrilla Games creating the critically acclaimed Horizon series.

It’s been a long time since fans have asked PlayStation for a remake or remaster, but sadly, it hasn’t materialized yet and possibly won’t anytime soon. A leaker, Silknigth, took to X/Twitter and said that Sony is gearing up to announce more remakes and remasters in 2025 and that it is going to be “a significant year for the brand.”

They added that Sony has yet to stop the “remaster machine,” and multiple remakes are currently in the pipeline. However, the leaker did not mention any games that are being remade or remastered. Players have been speculating what games it could be, and one player asked the leaker if any of those games were Killzone or Resistance, and to the fan’s disappointment, the leaker replied, “No.”

The credibility of the leak cannot be verified for obvious reasons; it hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it could have some substance, as Sony has said that games in existing IPs won’t launch in 2025. There have been a few leaks and rumors stating that a Killzone title is in development, but it never pans out, and seeing how Guerrilla has been occupied with Horizon, it seems highly unlikely.

What Could the Other Alleged PlayStation Remakes Be?

Sony has recently announced at the State of Play that Until Dawn is getting a remake, and if the leak is true, there might be more announcements coming soon. Fans have taken guesses that one of the titles in the works could be Uncharted 1, which is long overdue, as per fans.

Some of the other games that fans speculate could be remade or remastered are 2005’s God of War, Gravity Rush 1, Bloodborne, and more. The leaker Silknigth previously also said that multiple God of War games are in development, and fans think a remake could be one of them, possibly the first title in the series.

Some players are also hoping for the Jak and Daxter remake, or at least the Infamous or Ratchet and Clank games for PS3, or the Sly Cooper remake. What are your thoughts about the latest leak? Let us know in the comments.
