God of War Ragnarok, the latest installment in the popular PlayStation franchise God of War, was released in 2022, and the Valhalla DLC for the game was released in December last year. There have been reports that Santa Monica Studio has already started working on a new game, but in a franchise first, an entirely separate studio is rumored to be handling the development of its own God of War game.

However, the studio has not made an official announcement yet, and while players wait for an update on what’s next for the franchise, a new leak has surfaced. A leaker has claimed that multiple projects in the franchise are in the works, and some are in development outside of Santa Monica.

An X/Twitter user, Silknigth recently claimed in response to another user’s question about a potential God of War remake or remaster that “more than one project related to God of War” is in development and added that some of the games in the series are even in the works “outside of Santa Monica Studios.”

The legitimacy of this claim can not be verified until there is an official announcement from Sony on these alleged multiple projects, but if this turns out to be true, it would be a huge change for the franchise. The majority of the games in the series have been developed by Santa Monica Studios, other than a few titles such as Ghost of Sparta and GoW: Betrayal mobile game.

This claim by the leaker has gained good traction, and fans are excited with players speculating what titles could be in development. The main reason behind the leaker getting attention is that they said in February that the Ghost of Tsushima PC port would be announced soon, and it indeed has been announced that the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is coming to the PC on May 16, 2024.

Players are speculating that if the alleged claim is true, the original GoW games and the PSP installments could be remastered. One player added that the leaked documents from the massive Insomniac leak also revealed that Sony is interested in the remaster of original GoW games. Another fan added that Bluepoint Games may be working on one of the games in the series.

The Next God of War Title Is Also Said to Be in Development

Some games are allegedly being developed outside of Santa Monica Studio.
Some games are allegedly being developed outside of Santa Monica Studio.

Although Santa Monica has been super silent about the next God of War title, a leak surfaced last year alleging that the development of the next installment in the series is already underway and it could be something like a “half-sequel.”.

After this, the developer announced GoW Ragnarok‘s Valhalla DLC at the Game Awards 2023, and since then, there has been information about whether there is a game in development or not, but seeing as the leak claims there is more than one game, one of those titles could be a mainline entry.

Moreover, if the studio is working on the next game, it is unlikely to launch this year or even in 2025, as there have been two years of gaps in the recent GoW games being announced and then released. What are your thoughts about this God of War leak? Let us know in the comments.
