Frank Grillo, who played a tough villain in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is asking Marvel’s co-president, Louis D’Esposito, for a favor. He wants his character, Crossbones, back in the Marvel movies before he gets too old. The 58-year-old knows time is ticking, so he’s keen to jump back into the role while he still can.

You might remember him as Crossbones from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and yeah, he’d love to give it another go, but he’s not holding his breath. Instead, he’s betting on Rick Flag, Sr., the character he’s gearing up to play in the upcoming Creature Commandos animated series.

Scheduled for later this year, the animated series is James Gunn’s first project in the new DC Universe. Gunn even hinted that these animated actors might jump into live-action and video games too.

Grillo spilled the beans during a chat with ComicBook.com while promoting his new movie, Lights Out. He mentioned catching up with his Marvel buddies but is all hyped about Creature Commandos and the potential it’s packing. Grillo revealed,

“I would love it. I was just with Kevin Feige and Lou D’Esposito and the Russo Brothers. They honored Lou. And I was with Pratt and Batista, and I was like, God, I wish you would bring me back. I said, Lou, before I’m too old, bring me back. He said, We’ll talk.”

Further, the actor added,

“But now I’m doing the DCU. I did Creature Commandos with Gunn and Peter Safran, and they have a whole plan for Rick Flag Sr. That’s going to play out throughout the whole DCU. I can’t say what it is. And I’m hoping it’ll be equally as good, if not better, than Crossbones.”

As talks buzz around reboots and continuations, Grillo’s excitement adds weight to the Creature Commandos universe’s future. And hey, he’s got something else up his sleeve too, the confirmed Purge 6. Grillo’s bringing the optimism, giving fans a heads-up on what’s coming their way.

Grillo, known for his tough-guy roles in action flicks, just dropped some good news about Purge 6. Yep, the guy from The Purge: Anarchy gave a thumbs-up on how things are going with the horror sequel.

Speaking to Screen Rant, Grillo spilled the beans that the script for Purge 6 is all wrapped up and ready to roll. And get this, it’s supposed to be the grand finale of the whole shebang.

Grillo, who plays Leo Barnes in the series, couldn’t stop raving about the script, crossing his fingers that the studio’s on board to make it happen.

“The script is done. It basically centers around Leo Barnes, my character. It would be the last of the last of the last, it’s like the guy who keeps retiring. James DeMonaco is going to direct it, if it happens, and it’s a matter of money. It’s a matter of how big they want the movie to be, how much money they want to spend on the movie, considering they’ve done a lot in this franchise. But it’s a great script.”

The Purge saga kicked off back in 2013 with the original flick, and since then, it’s been one sequel after another. Grillo jumped into the mix with The Purge: Anarchy in 2014, playing the badass LAPD sergeant, Leo Barnes.

Fans loved him, and he came back for The Purge: Election Year in 2016. The franchise has kept going without Grillo, like in the prequel The First Purge and 2021’s The Forever Purge, but bringing him back for the big finale just feels right.
