Actor Laurence Fishburne is popularly known for his phenomenal performance as Morpheus in The Matrix trilogy. The actor has been nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe award while winning the Primetime Emmy thrice. He has also been a part of many blockbusters such as the John Wick franchise, Man of Steel, and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Despite an esteemed career, the actor’s personal life seems to be a bit tragic. The actor shares an estranged relationship with his daughter, Montana Fishburne after she decided to enter the adult film industry.
Laurence Fishburne’s Difficult Relationship With His Daughter
Actor Laurence Fishburne married his first wife Hajna O. Moss and with her had two children, Langston, and Montana Fishburne. The couple divorced in the 1990s and he then married actress Gina Torres in 2002, and had a daughter Delilah. The couple separated in 2017. While the actor is still in touch with his other children, he has had a difficult relationship with his first daughter Montana.
In an interview with People magazine, Montana Fishburne stated her decision to enter the adult film industry. She mentioned that she wanted to do p*rn after seeing the response Kim Kardashian’s s*x tape got after it was leaked, saying,
“Being in an adult film is not a big deal to me. It’s something I always wanted to do. I have always been comfortable in my body and with my sexuality…I am not in p*rn to get into acting. I am in p*rn because I wanted to be in p*rn.”
The actress was eighteen at the time. In the article, she mentioned her parents’ reaction to her decision, saying,
“I had already filmed it by the time they knew so I didn’t give them a chance to talk me out of it…so I could pursue what I want to do without being constrained by them. I hear through relatives that he’s upset but I haven’t talked to him directly for him to tell me his feelings.”
She mentioned much later that her father had cut off all contact with her after her entry into the adult industry.
The Career And Life Of Montana Fishburne
Montana Fishburne was two when her parents Laurence Fishburne and Hajna O. Moss divorced. She mentioned that she had a conventional childhood, like any child of divorce. In 2010, she spoke about her childhood in an interview with Reuters,
“It was traditionally unconventional. I’ve had divorced parents since I was 2, and my dad was a really famous actor, so it was as conventional as it could be. We had the best of the best: private schools, traveling all over the world. I’ve had a happy life.”

She decided to enter the adult film industry after the release of Kim Kardashian’s s*x tape and met with executives at Vivid Entertainment regarding her debut. She said,
“After I turned 18, I started to seriously think about the best way for me to enter [the business]. I was impressed with Kim Kardashian’s success after her tape was released by Vivid and decided to call the company to see if I could arrange a meeting. I met with [founder and co-chairman] Steven Hirsch and convinced him that I knew what I wanted, and we planned my movie debut.”
The actress has since retired from the industry after having a few run-ins with the law. She was arrested in 2009 for p*ostituition, to which she pleaded guilty and escaped a jail sentence by doing community service. She was again arrested for misdemeanor and assault after she broke into a woman’s house and assaulted her.
After her rehabilitation, the former adult actress has resorted to working on Yoga and fitness. She has hinted that her relationship with her father is healing.
