Ramsey, however, has dispelled such speculations with a brief clip showcasing her dedicated training and commitment to her role in the highly anticipated next season of the Emmy-winning Max drama.
Bella Ramsey Starts Training For The Last of Us Season 2
The second season of The Last of Us is expected to premiere in 2025, with filming scheduled to commence this year. And it seems that Bella Ramsey, known for portraying Ellie in the Emmy-winning drama series, is already getting ready for her comeback.
She offered a rare insight into the demanding process of reprising her iconic role. The short footage highlights the efforts the 20-year-old actress is putting into her physical training. Her training session includes dumbbell exercises, tricep pushdowns, pendulum squats, and biceps training, along with a boxing session.
The Last of Us season 2 is expected to feature a five-year time jump, similar to how the story evolves in the original games. New characters, including Ellie’s rival Abby and her love interest Dina, are also expected to join the cast.
The five-year time jump has also been considered to be one of the reasons many believed that the makers would recast Ellie for the next season. However, the creators of the show have denied such claims, stating that Bella Ramsey will reprise her role in the next season of the show.
The Last of Us Creators On Recasting Bella Ramsey
As The Last of Us season 2 came to an end, fans started anticipating that the makers would have to recast Bella Ramsey to showcase the difference between the 14-year-old and 19-year-old Ellie. However, the creators of the show, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, have confirmed that they have no plans to recast Ellie for the next season.
“We know what we’re gonna do in terms of costume and makeup and hair,” Mazin said, as per Entertainment Weekly, before adding, “But more importantly, we also know the spirit and soul of the actor.” It is not the first time there have been conflicts over Ramsey’s casting in the show.
When the actress joined the cast as Ellie, many fans complained about how she did not look like the character from the game. Despite that, the actress earned praise for her performance in the show and is expected to do the same in the next season as well.
