Ben Affleck had a middling tenure in the DCU. His Batman did not get much to do in the DCU and had a rather disappointing end in The Flash. He never got the chance to flesh out the character and make his portrayal of Batman unique and special. However, his suave and charismatic portrayal was championed by fans and shockingly, his character never got a solo film of his own. Although a cameo appearance, audiences got to see the best version of Batfleck in The Flash.

Affleck has since moved on from the DCU amidst all the DCU drama, unrealized projects, and stories that he never got to do with the character. But it seems still has a big affinity for the character as revealed by rapper Ice Spice, as she got to spend some time with the actor during a commercial shoot.

Ben Affleck portrayed Batman in major DCU films including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and The Flash. Although a very short tenure, he has left a great impact on fans, who have criticized Warner Bros for not utilizing the role and the actor properly throughout the films. Affleck has moved on from playing the character but his love for the character remains.

Rapper Ice Spice recently shot a Dunkin’ commercial with Affleck and she revealed that meeting Batman himself was a huge moment in her life. She also observed that Affleck still kept a Batman figure in his office, solidifying his love for the character. She told Variety,

“Ben Affleck is a very, very comforting person to be directed by, because he’s just been in it for so long that I just felt very like, secure working with him, you know what I’m saying? He made me feel comfortable, and he just guided it well. … He had like, his Batman figure or whatever in his office, and that was fire.”

It’s really unfortunate for Affleck and the fans that his Batman did not get a proper fleshed-out story in the DCU. With James Gunn’s own version of Batman coming up, fans hope that the character is used well this time and has a big role to play in the rebooted DCU.

Ben Affleck made his final appearance as the Caped Crusader in The Flash. In an interview with TheMovieReport.com, he revealed that his portrayal of the character in the film was the most satisfying and the most fun he has ever had. He also said that his tenure as the character got over too soon as he was beginning to enjoy playing and revitalizing the character. He said,

“You know, I think this is the most fun playing this part. It wasn’t a lot of work. It was really a cameo you know, and I didn’t expect or anticipate to do this, but you know I love Andy, and I really was excited. I had such a great experience with Ezra. I really was thrilled to come back and do it.

It has a really good spirit of, kind of balance which is the tone is a difficult thing with these movies like trying to figure out how serious, how dark, how funny, how engaging it is. People have done it really well, have really struck a balance with that tone, and I feel like Andy really did that with this movie. It was a lot of fun, I really had a great time. It was over too soon.”

Affleck recently directed the Matt Damon starrer sports biopic Air which received acclaim from critics and audiences. He will be producing several projects under his production company Artists Equity including Damon’s The Instigators, Jennifer Lopez’s Unstoppable, and Cillian Murphy’s Small Things Like These.
