Bob Odenkirk’s Better Call Saul‘s journey at the Emmys has been heartbreaking to watch as the series has always been undermined by the TV academy despite being nominated for various categories for every season. The show has been nominated over 53 times over the years over multiple seasons.
However, like past seasons, the series got no love from the television academy yet again at the recent Primetime Emmy Awards. The show has now ended its six-season run with zero Emmys, which is pretty shocking. The writer of the show gave his thoughts on this tragic record.
Better Call Saul Writer Mocks Emmys As Show Receives No Love Yet Again
Vince Gilligan‘s Better Call Saul incredibly carried the legacy of Breaking Bad over six seasons and provided audiences with a compelling origin saga about the events leading up to and after Breaking Bad. The series led by Bob Odenkirk, has been lauded by critics and audiences while also being nominated by the Emmys 53 times throughout its six-season run.
However, the Emmys have received flak over the years for constantly undermining the show over the years. By not winning any Emmy at the recent awards yet again, Better Call Saul now has the unfortunate record for the most Emmy losses for a series ever in history. (via Time). The writer of the series Thomas Schnauz mocked the television academy on X by saying “WE DID IT!!!!”
Better Call Saul has received so much love for the years for its narrative and performances in various award events over the years while not a single Emmy win. It is extremely shocking and frustrating as the show is already in the conversation of one of the best shows in recent years. The Emmys not giving an ounce of love to the makers and cast of the show is bewildering.
Rhea Seehorn Teases Upcoming New Series With Vince Gilligan
Rhea Seehorn is once again teaming up with Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan for a new series with her as the lead. On the red carpet for the Emmys, Seehorn teased the exciting potential of the project and what audiences should expect from the show.
Seehorn told The Hollywood Reporter that the series will be psychological sci-fi drama which Gilligan specifically designed for her. She also revealed that her role in the series is something that she’s never done before and praised Gilligan’s genius script. She said,
“He’s already released that it has a sci-fi element; more psychological than full space. “it’s extremely unlike anything I’ve ever done before. I guess the only other thing I’m allowed to say is that in his genius way, even when you’re reading the scripts — I’ve read three — every time you think you know what story or what genre this is, he takes a turn. He keeps taking a turn. It’s amazing writing.”
The series will be shot in Albuquerque sometime this year and is expected to be released next year. Audiences who love Gilligan and his previous works will be excited to experience another compelling and gritty tale.
