Black Adam promised to revive DCEU after the universe was hit by some of the most terrible decisions. Despite setting high hopes for the fans, the Dwayne Johnson starrer failed to make a mark at the box office and establish a secured future for the universe. Ultimately, it led The Rock’s visions to nowhere and the events shown in the movie ended up as completely irrelevant for the new DCU.
However, when it was said that The Flash would change the future of the DCEU and steer it into the new universe, the 2023 movie also turned out to be a box-office bomb. This has led many fans of the Black Adam lead and the former WWE Wrestler to start a virtual war against the DCU co-CEO James Gunn.
Is Black Adam Better Than Most Other DCEU Movies?
The Dwayne Johnson movie raised high hopes among the fans due to several factors. It even brought back the fan-favorite Henry Cavill’s Superman in the main pipeline after a long time. But ultimately both Cavill and Johnson couldn’t hold their stay longer after James Gunn took over the universe. Black Adam earned $393 million and even failed to break even turning out to be a big commercial failure.
Following Black Adam, the Ezra Miller starrer The Flash was also one of the most anticipated movies which was said to introduce the new DCU. The movie earned unnatural hype worldwide after not only the audiences but many big names such as Tom Cruise and Stephen King also praised the movie. Unfortunately, when the movie dropped, the reception was not at all the same. The screenplay and the CGI received massive backlash. The Andy Muschietti directorial also turned out to be one of the biggest box-office bombs ever.
The failure of The Flash has led several fans of The Rock to openly call out Gunn and praise Black Adam as the best DCEU movie after Aquaman. The Jason Momoa starrer Aquaman was the last major hit in the main DCEU timeline and since then every movie turned out to be box office disappointments. But this hot take by The Rock fans has led to a huge online war as not everyone agreed that the Teth Adam is best when Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is also there on the list.
Dwayne Johnson Fans Rally Behind Black Adam
Over the past few days, the internet has witnessed numerous fans rallying behind the Jaume Collet-Serra movie. If the movies like The Batman are excluded which exist outside the main DCEU, then also there is The Suicide Squad which was critically appreciated by everyone. But still, the Black Adam fans deem it to be the best among the lot.

Before The Flash’s release, James Gunn called it one of the best superhero movies which also led the fans to call out the director after the failure of the movie. Now, even though it is a good movie, Black Adam isn’t the best thing in DCEU after Aquaman.
It will be seen if James Gunn can prove his haters wrong with his upcoming pipeline. Recently, he also announced David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as our new Superman and Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman: Legacy which will kick off the new universe.
Superman: Legacy will hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Black Adam can be streamed on Max while The Flash is running in theaters.
