While Ryan Coogler’s reputation in Hollywood is quite spectacular, the regard given to him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is at another level. He helped the franchise get its first two Oscar wins, as well as numerous award nominations, all through the masterpiece that was Black Panther. Arguably one of the best Marvel films to date, the project not only had an excellent director, but it also had some of the most talented people in the industry as a part of its cast and crew.

Considering how much acclaim the film got, it is not surprising that many trust the filmmaker with the movies that he makes. After the follow-up film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it was expected that he would finish the trilogy. However, it would seem that on top of the Wakandan films, he may also be heading one of the most anticipated MCU projects to date; an X-Men film.

Marvel May Trust Ryan Coogler With X-Men

Fans have been patiently waiting for the entry of the X-Men ever since Robert Downey Jr. first put on his Iron Man suit. While the Avengers have become more widely known through the MCU, in a time before, the superhero world was dominated by mutants, and Charles Xavier’s team was right in the middle of it. Fans have been waiting for the formal entry of the characters in the main franchise for 16 years.

While the characters are making their way into the universe bit by bit, the X-Men film, which is inevitable, will carve their presence in stone. It was recently reported by MyTimeToShineHello on X that Marvel Studios already has their eye on one director to head this important project.

It would seem that, on top of being signed on for Black Panther 3, Marvel apparently wants Ryan Coogler to also head the mutant film. Not only could this news confirm that the movie is already being worked on, but it could also imply that one of the best directors in the franchise’s history may be directing it. Considering just how big the news is, it is not surprising that fans are having mixed reactions.

Fans Are Skeptical About The Rumor

Since the rumor started to make its rounds around the internet, fans have had a variety of reactions. Many were more than thrilled, and excited that Ryan Coogler could potentially be heading one of the most anticipated films in the history of the MCU. They wondered about the possibilities and the directions that could be taken, specifically thinking about Storm’s character. They were very sure that the director would do an excellent job with her.

However, some did not have such positive reactions. While some fans did not believe the speculation, others were more concerned about the implications of the same. There have been many big-name directors who were announced to be heading certain Marvel projects, and there were just as many who left.

Some were worried about the director leaving the film and it also being doomed. Others thought that other directors were more qualified for the job. The Russo Brothers are two directors Marvel fans always turn to in their time of need, and this was no different. Regardless, it is safe to assume that Marvel is not fooling around anymore and is making very calculated decisions.
