X-Men ’97 is already nailing everything and scoring an eternal place in its viewers’ hearts, with more than 90% of audiences and nearly 100% of critics impressed by the immaculate way this story has been helmed. Plus, this saga doesn’t seem to want to stop anytime soon, because it already has a season 2 greenlit while the first one still airs, meaning there’s more peak entertainment incoming.
That being said, this peak entertainment could also bring about the possible event of the mutant superheroes fending off against the earth’s mightiest heroes, i.e. the Avengers. And while that is yet to be officially confirmed, Ross Marquand, the actor who plays Professor X in this animated series, has ignited the hope of that happening, nonetheless, with some really relatable reasoning.
X-Men vs The Avengers? Could Happen, Says Ross Marquand
[Warning: Don’t read ahead if you haven’t watched X-Men ’97 but are planning to watch it. Spoilers ahead of the same.]
Both Charles Xavier’s team of merry mutants and Captain America’s team of the earth’s mightiest heroes are two of the most beloved squads in the entire superhero genre, so seeing them come to blows with each other would be nothing short of pure cinema for the fans.
In fact, as Brandon Davis said, if that epic battle happens, “That’s going to be in the Marvel Universe’s history books.” Well, it seems this history ain’t far, because after the recent events that happened in X-Men ’97, it seems very likely that this brutal brawl actually ends up happening.
This statement was further highlighted recently by Ross Marquand — the voice actor who lent his fabulous vocal talents to Xavier in the ongoing series of mutant superheroes — while talking about a possible “Avengers versus X-Men” battle during his latest interview with Phase Zero.
Marquand told Phase Zero while talking about this epic battle:
“Well, you might. I mean, listen. You saw what happened in the last episode of Rogue and Captain America. Like, there’s a real chance that that could happen.”
Okay, that most certainly seems possible after what Rogue did, i.e. swing Cap’s shield somewhere deep down into the snow to the point where the Captain is, literally, still looking for it. No doubt, pissing off Cap has never turned out fine before, and you don’t throw that man’s shield in the snow.
Continuing, Marquand further emphasized his point, laughing at the ironic hilarity of it all:
“Captain can’t fly! She threw that in the side of a Snowy Mountain. I’m sure that’s lodged in there, 50 feet deep. He ain’t gonna find that shield. It’s not like Mjolnir that you can just pull it back. It’s stuck in that thing. He’s going to be pissed at Rogue.”
Well, we don’t know and can’t say if Cap will actually have to make do without his shield, but one thing is for sure: A pissed Captain America won’t suit the mutant league of superheroes well, so we might as well prepare for the ultimate battle between two of the most beloved bands of heroes in the MCU!
Ross Marquand Says He’d “Die a Happy Man” if This Happens
Needless to say, fans won’t be the only ones feeling they just witnessed something epic in the history of the MCU, for Marquand would perhaps be feeling infinitely happier if the events actually turned out this blissful way.
As he honestly shared while expressing that he would “hell yeah” want to play his current character for the long haul:
“I say this to my manager all the time: If this was the last thing I do with my career, I’d die a happy man.”
We too, Marqy. We too.
