Halle Berry has established herself as one of the leading actresses in the industry with her impressive body of work and several accolades he has received over the years. The actresses have juggled both character-driven dramas as well as studio blockbusters. Along with an incredible Oscar win for Monster’s Ball, she most famously played Storm in the X-Men films.
The actress played the iconic superhero in the original three X-Men films alongside Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. The actor reprised the role in Deadpool & Wolverine recently, and fans believed that other X-Men characters would be in it, including Berry’s character. However, in a recent conversation, Berry revealed that she was never approached by Ryan Reynolds for the film.
Halle Berry Has An Unexpected Reply About Her Absence In Deadpool & Wolverine
Audiences have loved seeing Halle Berry for so many years and the actress continues to surprise fans with her incredible performances. Her role as Storm in the X-Men franchise is arguably her most popular role and it was highly rumored that she would be reprising the role in the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer Deadpool & Wolverine.
Jackman and Berry’s X-Men characters have a rich history and Deadpool & Wolverine was highly rumored to have a huge X-Men presence due to its promise of being a love letter to the Fox-era Marvel films. The film did have a certain amount of characters from the franchise but they were all supporting characters like Pyro and Sabretooth.
Deadpool & Wolverine shockingly did not include any of the major members of the X-Men including Berry’s Storm. In an interview with Comicbook.com, The Union star revealed that Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, had asked her whether she would be in the film. However, Reynolds never approached her, despite her desire to play Storm again. Berry said,
No. Blake Lively asked me one time, I ran into her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, and she said, ‘Would you ever be in my husband’s movie as Storm?’ I said, ‘Yeah, if he asked me,’ but he never asked me.
Deadpool & Wolverine had Lively voicing Lady Deadpool and Jennifer Garner as Elektra. While these two women did a great job in their roles, it would have been great to see Berry as Storm in the mix. Seeing Storm in the tragic backstory for the alternate Logan would have been an impactful scene in the film.
