However, with the studio recently, releasing the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, Miyazaki had publicly confirmed that they are going to move away from the Soulslike genre and explore new horizons.

Fans were understandably miffed by this decision. Nevertheless, it still promised something as the team at FromSoftware is renowned for delivering critically acclaimed masterpieces. So, fans were eagerly waiting for official news and updates. On 1st April 2024, Bloodborne rumors reared their head again as a user took to X to post some ‘leaks’. With fans confused whether it was an April Fool’s joke, the post got quite a bit of traction.

A user on X, @Silknigth, posted an update stating that a new project that can either be a remake or a sequel of Bloodborne is coming. In the short post, they mention that the “wait will be worth it” suggesting that it is on its way.

With over 59k views, the post went viral quickly as fans of the Soulslike games hungrily searched for any more information regarding the so-called ‘Project Beast’. However, not all fans were convinced with a large section of them quite convinced that it is an April Fools prank.

But when asked whether it was indeed a prank, the author of the post replied in negative. Although that did little to assuage the doubts of fans. Comments like “Guys its first April don’t trust anyone” and “april fools not funny‘ did the rounds in the comment section. But, despite the obvious chance of it being fake, a surprisingly large number of fans looked for more info showcasing the insane popularity of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s game.

Fans kept asking questions in the comment section although the author refused to clarify any further, making their claims even more questionable. One user however pointed out something really pertinent, “Wasn’t Project Beast the codename for Bloodborne?

We, at FandomWire, did our independent fact-checking and it was easy to find out that this is indeed an old image. So for all means and purposes, the user was just having fun at everybody’s expense. While fans will be upset that someone played like that with their feelings, especially because they potentially lied outright when asked about it being an April Fool’s joke. While Call of Duty fans got to enjoy a new April Fool’s Game Mode, Souls fans were made to bear the brunt of the cruel joke.

If you feel like it, you can read about the top 5 April Fool’s jokes of 2024 in the gaming community. April Fool’s Day is usually for banter and misinformation. So the user posting the old Bloodborne screenshot can be forgiven for having their own fun.

However, it also showed how little memory fans seem to have about Hidetaka Miyazaki’s work when it is not Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, or Elden Ring. Project Beast was the codename for Bloodborne before it was unveiled with the new name in 2014.
