Now, a report by Bloomberg, the financial, software, data, and media company, has shared an insight regarding the game’s release. As per the report, the game will be announced as early as this week. The trailer for the game will be released next month, coinciding with Rockstar’s 25th anniversary.

GTA 6‘s release is long overdue since the last entry in the franchise was released in 2013. That is, of course, after one discounts Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition as a remaster. GTA 5 was released in 2013, meaning it has been almost ten years since any new GTA game has come out.

Rockstar Games has yet to release an official statement and is maintaining radio silence about it. Being devoid of details from any official sources, fans are relying on speculation. Numerous individuals are claiming to be insiders and supposedly sharing information. None of which is still confirmed.

This isn’t unexpected, given the huge success GTA 5 proved to be. It set new standards for gaming and was a milestone in game design and development. It is only logical for fans to expect Rockstar to meet the standard set by the likes of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

While Rockstar continues to stay silent on GTA 6, Bloomberg has reported that GTA 6 will be released early next year. The announcement will be made this week. And the trailer release will coincide with Rockstar’s 25th anniversary next month. It is reiterated that the source may be reputable, but nothing can be confirmed before an official statement by Rockstar Games.

That is why readers are advised to take this with a grain of salt. The report by Bloomberg mentions that several sources have fed the same news to it. All of this means that it isn’t long until the alleged date on which the alleged announcement is supposed to happen.

Rockstar’s anniversary falls somewhere in December. The Game Awards will also proceed on December 7. The nominees for which will be announced next week. In 2022, Elden Ring won Game of the Year. Coincidentally, the game’s upcoming DLC, titled Shadow of the Erdtree, is also expected to get a release date at the Game Awards.

Rockstar has only officially confirmed the development of GTA 6, and the earnings report published by its parent, Take-Two Interactive, mentioned some “groundbreaking titles” to be released in Fiscal Year 2025. One of these titles should ideally be GTA 6.

Everything Confirmed About GTA 6 So Far

GTA V received a lot of acclaim for its animation work. GTA 6 will definitely improve upon it.
GTA 5 received a lot of acclaim for its animation work. GTA 6 will improve upon it.

Following the 90 clips leaked about the game by a UK-based hacker named Arion Kurtaj, Rockstar issued an official statement confirming an unfortunate network breach. During the incident, Bloomberg reported the presence of a female protagonist in the game in July 2022.

The leaks, which occurred much later in September 2022, did confirm some details regarding the game. Among these was the existence of a female protagonist for the first time in the series. The game reportedly has two protagonists inspired by bank robbers, Bonnie and Clyde.

There were also some observations by eagle-eyed fans waiting for release. And while they may not strictly be related to GTA 6, as there is no explicit mention of the title, there are patents that GTA 6‘s makers have filed.

One standout patent is titled “System and Method for Virtual Character Locomotion.” This was essentially developed by Tobias Kleanthous, whose name was also mentioned in the leaks.

The solution presented in the patent was to refine player movement animations included in a video game. An excerpt from a patent reads:

These problems are addressed by the disclosed locomotion system...the locomotion system 100 includes one or more data-driven animation building blocks that can be used to define any character movements

In layperson’s terms, animations can now be more nuanced as they will now be derived from archetypal building blocks as per the patent. While the number of confirmed details about the game is significantly less, hopefully, there will be an official announcement by Rockstar Games soon.
