After a successful couple of months in their professional careers, A-list stars Emily Blunt and Chris Evans are back on the big screen with their Netflix original film Pain Hustlers. While the film may have been the talk of the town for some time now, thanks to the star power of the aforementioned duo, it became a hot topic of discussion with the critical reviews now pouring in.
With the recent opening up of the film to the public, the critical reviews by cinema critics have also started to arrive. And although the reviews are not negative in any way, they do tell the public not to get our hopes up. While at one end, Blunt does her best with her character, Evans’ role packs a somewhat strong negative sting.
Critics Reveal Chris Evans’ Character May Be The Sore Point In Pain Hustlers
After giving a terrific performance in the latest Christopher Nolan masterpiece Oppenheimer, actress Emily Blunt is joined by MCU star Chris Evans in their Netflix film Pain Hustlers. The film was finally released on the OTT platform this past week, which is the reason why critics have gotten their proper chance to take a look at the film themselves.
While most agree this film is very good, it’s nothing more than a typical easy-going product by the streaming giant with Blunt bringing the most and Evans only being able to do so much.
After the review of the film from Mike Reyes (via CinemaBlend), it’s clear that the film is not some high and mighty ambitious project, despite having David Yates at the helm of the project along with the aforementioned star cast. Reyes pointed out that he would definitely give props to the Edge of Tomorrow actress for doing the best with her character with the strongest performance in the film.
On the other hand, the Captain America: Civil War star, though does his best to make the most out of his role, has too shallow and loathsome a character to connect with or look forward to. He said:
“Blunt does the best she can to breathe life into Liza, a fictional character in an inspired-by-true-events story. But around the halfway point, it becomes clear there’s no space for her to add any dimension to her character — though she still delivers the strongest performance. Chris Evans has done well playing jerks in the past (see: Knives Out), but Pete is detestable to the point of unbearable, and Evans is unable to find any nuance in the role.”
Despite the best efforts of the stars to create a memorable experience for the audience, the film becomes that typical forgettable Netflix flick at the end like most.
